Karic Off on Loan
Karic Off on Loan
Tuesday, 29th Jan 2002 16:36

Amir Karic has become the latest Town player to leave Portman Road on loan. The Slovenian has re-joined NK Maribor in his homeland, the side he left for Town in Sepyember 2000 for £700,000.

Since joining Town he has made just three apearances as sub, all in last season's Worthington Cup. He also had a three game spell on loan at Palace last season.

For most of this season he has even found it hard to make the reserves, although he was involved in the recent 1-0 loss at home to Charlton.

Earlier in the season Italian Serie A side Chievo were interested in taking him on loan, but that came to nothing. Shortly afterwards Karic chose to speak out against the club in a manner presumably designed to make his position at the Portman Road untenable.

He will spend the rest of the season with NK Maribor and is likely to be part of the Slovenia side playing in the World Cup. He is included in the squad for a warm-up tournament in Hong Kong next month.
