Town End Pre-Season Programme at Orient
Friday, 1st Aug 2014 12:34

Town end their pre-season friendly programme with a visit to League One play-off finalists Leyton Orient on Saturday afternoon (KO 3pm).

The Blues remain undefeated in their five games so far — four wins and the home draw with West Ham - and have conceded just the one goal, at Southend on Tuesday.

Manager Mick McCarthy is likely to field a side which will probably be very close to the team which will line up against Fulham at home in the opening Championship fixture of the season next Saturday (KO 5.15pm, Sky Sports 1/HD1).

At some stage fans are likely to have another chance to run the rule over Kevin Bru and Balint Bajner, who joined the club yesterday having been on trial since the start of last week.

Winger Stephen Hunt is the only member of the squad currently sidelined, the Irishman, who celebrates his 33rd birthday today, having been troubled with a calf problem throughout pre-season.

The current O's squad includes former Blues striker Kevin Lisbie, while ex-Reading skipper Jobi McAnuff and one-time Hull City striker Jay Simpson are recent additions to manager Russell Slade’s ranks.

The sides last met in a senior pre-season friendly at Brisbane Road in the summer of 2000 when the game ended 2-2 with David Johnson and Tony Mowbray scoring for the Blues. Admission is £15 for adults and £5 for concessions.

Meanwhile, Town’s U21s are in action away against Skrill South side Chelmsford City in a friendly this evening (KO 7.45pm), while this lunchtime’s U18s friendly at Huddersfield has been cancelled.

£15 is a bit much £10 would have been more reasonable. But I'm going either way, can't put a price on the super blues in my eyes, and no, I'm not atall well off, just a loyal supporter

i know this has been done to death but £15 is terrible value. If i lived in Munich I could see Bayern vs Real in the Champions League for that much! I don't mind shelling out over the odds for town for the likes of Fulham, Norwich etc but leyton in a friendly....i refer you back to the gif

I was a Town-supportin' O's turnstyle operator 8 & 9 years ago when they were in League 2 and their standard ticket price at the time was £16.

They could have done with a Mr Clegg turnstyle paint job, has to be said.

I know that you've got all the cliches of that its only pre season, but tomorrow I think we should be treating this as if its our first league game.
With that I mean start the starting XI that are going to feature next week and go at it with that intensity. It's our last pre season game and its against Leyton Orient who I believe should be playing championship football this season, they will have a good side and they're the perfect team to play before the opening weekend. So let's go at it as if its a league and it will put us in good stead going into the Fulham game.

Friendly against Orient £15
Cup game against Crawley £10

Both from same division. Going to both but feel the friendly should be cheaper.

£15 for a pre season friendly looks like great value...after all it's 15 euros to watch Bayern Munich [standing] in the Bundesliga ..sheesh

Lucky if you get 4 pints for £15 in London!!

On a footballing note: really hoping for a clean sheet, another goal for Bajner and a confidence building performance for everyone. Coyb!
