Strong U21s Side But No Collison Or Ambrose
Monday, 25th Aug 2014 12:58

Elliott Hewitt, Jonny Parr, Kevin Bru, Alex Henshall and Balint Bajner all start for the U21s in their season opener against Swansea at Playford Road this afternoon, but neither Jack Collison nor Darren Ambrose are included in the 16 (KO 1pm).

Boss Mick McCarthy had planned to have a look at free agents Collison and Ambrose against the Swans, the duo having been training with the Blues squad.

Matt Clarke skippers, while Teddy Bishop is in midfield having recovered from his weekend illness.

U21s: Crowe, Hewitt, Parr, Bru, Sowunmi, Clarke (c), Galvin, Bishop, McQueen, Bajner, Henshall. Subs: Marsden, Robinson, Willbye, McLoughlin, Ramadan.

Swansea: Cornell, Roberts, Hanley, Jones, Kingsley, Tancock (c), Shephard, King, Samuel, March, Gorre. Subs: Hedges, Zabret, Gogic, Gallifuoco, Scott.

...well make your bloody mind up! either their playing or not playing!...sounds like we're just doing them a favour and allowing them (Collison and Ambrose) just to train with us.

Mixed messages coming out of PR or just assumptions being made that they would play?

It may of escaped your notice Mick but we do indeed need an attacking midfielder...

Unlikely we will sign either (although personally not convinced Ambrose is good enough these days). Much better to rely on short term loans ... Who will be gone by Christmas. Well at least that seems to be the clubs strategy.

..... we have a Manager who has allegedly stated that he is stubborn and will do the opposite to what supporters ask / call for - can't believe a Manager would make such a statement and expect to get away with it - maybe this is just another example of such.

He and his Crew have just extended and signed contracts - therefore would cost a fortune to get rid of, so I guess you could say we are well and truly stuffed (dekcuf) now.

Isn't there some rule about trialists not playing unless behind closed doors?

Get signing Darren Ambrose Mick .. He's streets ahead of any of our midfielders. He has attacking qualities !!

I am so down at the moment.Marcus saved the club with his finantial output and long may it continue. However he is not a football man.As I have stated I didn't want Keane or Macarthy. I was prepared to give PJ a chance but now we are stuck with a man who is stuck in the seventies with his footballing beliefs. Footaball has moved on with the introduction of more foreign coaches etc but hey what do I know?.
