Hunt and Stewart Targeting Millwall Match
Thursday, 28th Aug 2014 15:11

Town boss Mick McCarthy says injured duo Stephen Hunt and Cameron Stewart should be fit enough for inclusion in the first-team squad for the home game against Millwall which follows the international break. The Blues manager says he has no new injury problems ahead of Saturday’s game at Derby County.

“I think they’re all OK,” McCarthy said. “Hunty’s been out and trained today, which is great, but he’s not fit to play yet.

“Cameron Stewart’s the only other one. It’ll be six weeks from when he broke his jaw to when he’s completely healed.”

He says the pair should be ready for the Millwall match: “I hope so. I’ve said to them both that that’s got to be their target. Not looking to do anything else, their target is to be ready for the games when we come back after the international break.”

Town will be without Conor Sammon at Derby as the loan striker is unavailable against his parent club and McCarthy has confirmed that Frank Nouble will come into the squad.

He says youngsters Matt Clarke and Teddy Bishop will also probably make the trip to the Midlands.

Perhaps overly optimistic but I am somewhat hoping that Cameron Stewart will shake up this midfield once he's fit.

I agree 'nocanaries'. When I heard about the signing of Cameron I thought this was an exciting, defiantly not defensive, midfielder, and it was a blow when he got injured. I'm looking forward to see him make a mark.

Great news, we need creativity and frankly I would prefer not to watch Tabb play again.

This is why it annoys me when Marriott goes out on loan. Perfect opportunity sat to come off the bench rather than nouble who MM doesn't want.

And then all the other weeks when sammon is included marriott wont be playing at all! Id much rather see marriott getting regular action on loan if possible than spending 90mins a week watching from the bench!

Tabb isn't the right player to start with, too lightweight, coupled with Skuse and Hyam it's not really going to put a stamp on any match!

We haven't yet replaced Guirane N'Daw and whether Bru once he's got to lasting a whole match will do that role, time will tell.
Hunt whilst competitive, isn't going to be playing every game but we certainly need players with his mindset.

be great to have these players back, but can't see how they will be fit enough for more than 15 mins.

Hopefully Stewart when fully fit will
Add a more attacking threat to the
Midfield. As for me, Tabb shouldn't
Be anywhere near the starting eleven,
Especially being played in a wide position!

I have to say that I will not be surprised if MM picks exactly the same staring line up against Derby as he did against the budgies.

Shouldn't be a depressing thought, but for some unknown reason, it really is.

hhmmm...still have my doubts about Stewart after watching him play a few times for Leeds, looked very average, hopefully he'll create a spark.

Maybe, just maybe, Stewart could play in the middle? Although we'd probably have to play diamond with him at the top.

But him replacing Tabb on the wing should provide improved performances from the team anyway.

I don't think Kevin Bru or Balint Bajner for that matter, will get much of a chance at all this season. They've never played in England until now and that's just not the situation we need are players to be in at the moment.

They'll probably move to a lower league side like Pim Balkenstein eventually.
