No Mings Palace Move - Report
Monday, 1st Sep 2014 12:33

Crystal Palace may have ended their interest in Blues left-back Tyrone Mings, according to South London sources. The 21-year-old was being eyed by the Eagles with new manager Neil Warnock keen to add to his left-sided options.

Warnock is close to adding Tottenham left-back Zeki Fryers to his squad but is also understood to have been interested in bringing in Mings.

However, the Croydon Advertiser's Palace reporter has tweeted that the proposed switch now “could be off”.

The Eagles are also claimed to have renewed their January interest in Blues striker David McGoldrick, according to one of this morning’s national newspapers.

Twitter rumours claim Palace striker Glenn Murray could be part of a £5 million plus player deal, however, the 30-year-old has been tipped for a £1.5 million switch to Reading.

Palace are also reported to have made an enquiry regarding Leicester’s Chris Wood, who watched Town’s game at Derby on Saturday, leading to inevitable speculation that the New Zealand international could be a Town target if McGoldrick were to move on.

Yesterday’s second slightly increased Foxes bid for the 26-year-old frontman - a figure of £7 million has been reported - is understood to have been turned down but talks are believed to be continuing.

Blues owner Marcus Evans is said to be holding out for £8 million for last season’s 16-goal top scorer, while the Premier League side are reported to have indicated that they are looking at alternative additions to their strike force and the Leicester Mercury believes the deal is now "unlikely" to go through.

Don't sell McG for less than £8m. Another season like last and he will be worth £12m+

He might be Penn, but he will be worth nothing to us next summer.

If Ulloa who also scored 16 goals last season and played two more games than McGoldrick then McGoldrick should be worth 8 million also. Hopefully he will stay, my fingers will be crossed until 11pm!

Not if he is disaffected....MM needs to handle him very carefully if this doesn't go through. Who wouldn't want to be much closer to their family on 2 or 3 times the wage he is on right now?

8 million and he really should go. Let's hope Chris Woods can be part of the deal....

Ive been supporting Town long enough to know that all this "speculation" will result in nothing and we will struggle on as before!

I'm bored, fed up and totally depressed by all this considering every other club serious about promotion is busy strengthening their squads. But oh hang on a minute! Our ambitious benefactor may bequith us some peanuts to bring in some young kids from the premiership on short term loans! So just rejoice at his generosity because as we all know, ITFC wouldn't exist at all without our wonderful owner! People talk about another season of mid table when we should really be talking about the very real prospect of relegation! Thank you Mr Evans just where would we be without you.

If McGoldrick is to go we need to get a proven goalscorer at Championship level in on a full contract. Both Wood & Murray would be good options and the kind of signings I'd have been really pleased with to play alongside Didz.
We don't need the uncertainty of another striker in on loan, or worse still no striker in at all.

Pjewellisagod is right even if his name is wrong! ;) the key will be if dids wants to go. If he does we should take the 7 mill to avoid yet another bosman.

Ronan Murray is really not the answer. Notts County fans aren't particularly enamoured with him

Give us £8m plus Chris woods. It will be a win-win for all.

JWM - Where would we be without Evans? £30 million more in debt that we already are. He cleared that debt when he bought the club.

Why are we persisting in selling our best players. Is this another Roy Keane moment where the owner and manager shred the squad and wonder then why the club is suffering. Get a grip MM and Marcus Evans if you want us to do well this season.

mrroberts - Football is a business - If we were a top 5 team regularly competing it may be different ? or maybe not ? From a 'Business perspective' these are great deals for us
BUT as Football fans it may not seem so as we have to see someone coming the other way and I believe MM has been carefully culling those he feels are not up to the job
Lets see where we are after 15 games ..... I think we may be ok
It has been a tough month of fixtures
Young players are being offered chance and we have Stewart to come back
All good !

All remember - it matters not how much we get for the deal the real crux is how much is re-invested (within 4 months) back into the first team.

Interested to see, should we sell any players, any statement from the chief execs re this point.

Oh back to the story mings needs to establish himself in this league before thinking about a move to prem

Pleased if Mings remains as he is still improving and given his commendable attitude could do very well for us in the years to come.

I hope that we now sell McGoldrick, this based on my thoughts that his potential move to the Premier will make a difference to his attitude if he now remains in the Championship.
Will his desire still be the same if his Premier dream fall through?

In my opinion if the Mcgoldrick deal fails to go true he should apply himself as the club spent quite a few quid on his rehab during the summer in america.

Very sorry to see McGoldrick go, but we should take their £7m or £8m. Have to be realistic as this is good business for the club considering he was a free signing. Also no pojnt in having a disaffected McGoldrick about the place. Really can't stand in the way of a player leaving for Premiership and better wages. Probably too late to sign a good replacement, so hopefully get a good quality loanee with a view to signing in January.

Warnock only been there a few days and got a good young loanee from a top club and other signings lined up .
I think all the Dids talk has acted as a smoke screen for the fact that we are not actually trying to better ourselves in the market anyway which we should do our forwards have only managed to score in 1 game out of 6 so far this season

Being reported that Leicester have ended their interest as they will not go to £8m.
