Tunnicliffe Linked With Return
Monday, 1st Sep 2014 16:25

Town are reported to have renewed their interest in former loanee Ryan Tunnicliffe with Blackburn Rovers also said to be targeting the midfielder. The 21-year-old spent the first half of last season on loan with the Blues from Manchester United before he was sold to Fulham in January.

Having made two starts for the Cottagers, the manager who signed him, his former Manchester United coach Rene Meulensteen, was sacked.

The Mancunian has featured only once as a sub under his successor Felix Magath and he was sent out on loan to Wigan at the end of January when the Blues also showed interest in bringing him back to Portman Road.

Any move is likely to be a loan with Tunnicliffe contracted until the summer of 2017.

At Thursday's press conference, Blues boss Mick McCarthy said there was the possibility of a player coming in on loan before tonight's 11pm deadline.

The former England U16 and U17 international made 24 starts and five sub appearances in his spell with the Blues without scoring.

No thanks - we had some young, creative midfielders play on Saturday, we don't need him back. Created nothing, didn't score AND turned us down when he could have come to Town before.

Don't see what he would add apart from working hard and running around a lot , no assists or goals scored , surely we don't need another of those midfielders ?

"The former England U16 and U17 international made 24 starts and five sub appearances in his spell with the Blues without scoring."

None of the other midfielders (or forwards for that matter) are prolific. Thank the Lord for Berra!

Yeah, not bothered by him coming here. I'd rather Teddy Bish got some games and to see how Kevin Bru does. Hopefully playing one or both will make Skuse and Hyam up their game and prove their worth. Good luck Ryan, but not this time thanks.

This deal happening wouldn't be a surprise, as he has not fitted in at Fulham at all. (But must be a lot better wage than what we pay)
Like Skuse he currently sits on 'Zero' goals on appearances made, but well ahead with actual shots on target.
So in reality where will that change our midfield style , other than actually having a more competitive player there if Skuse was the one to make way.

I do hope not. yet another hard working midfielder that creates nothing and offers no goal threat at all.

Think he is an okay player, just not what we need in midfield!

We need a creative midfielder in the mould of jonny Williams. It's what we lacked until he arrived last season and it's what we lack so far this season. Tunnicliffe would be a useful addition, but not a goal scorer.

I'm with those above .... he is not going to make much difference, if any, to what is already an uninspiring midfield. Move on and wait to see what might be available in the emergency transfer window.

Somebody else's left overs once again. If he was full of promise and likely to create anything perhaps Fulham in their sorry state would want to play him. Come 9pm perhaps well see, "20 goal threat / young talent linked with town"

a BIG no thanks from me...why would we want him back? good energy, nil creativity, nil goal scoring...a few other players along those lines in our midfield!

Tricky one he's not a bad player but i would much prefer us to use Bru and Bishop. I would not want to play another teams player at the expense of these two. If we bring in a loan player he needs to be better than what we have, not sure Ryan is.
