No Moves Before Window Closes
Monday, 1st Sep 2014 22:05

Town have confirmed that there will be no ins or outs before the transfer window closes at 11pm.

Despite Leicester and then Crystal Palace’s interest in David McGoldrick, and an Eagles approach for Tyrone Mings, no one left Portman Road.

With former loanee Ryan Tunnicliffe set to join Blackburn from Fulham on loan, there were no additions to Mick McCarthy’s squad.

McCarthy is set to give his view on the day’s proceedings in an interview with Ipswich Player on Tuesday morning.

No major surprise - we never seem to do business on the last day (which is good really)

Same old same old. Would be nice to get at least one player in make the day a bit more exciting! But glad mckgoldrick is still here just hope his head is in the same place! Will we ever spend money on a player? I know freebies have served us well so far but sometimes you need to pay for that extra bit of quality

I am very glad McGoldrick is here to stay and well done to Evans holding strong for the 8 million asking price. Yes 7 million to some people is too good to turn down but think about it, who would we replace McGoldrick with? It was far too close to deadline day for us to even consider moving for somebody, that's if Mick was even able to if Evans reinvested some of the money into the squad which from previous selling of players, I wouldn't have put money on it. I'm guessing the loan player that could've arrived that Mick mentioned was Tunnicliffe, but he is no different to what we already have in midfield. I do hope we loan some decent players though from premier league clubs when the window opens again for us to even think about challenging at the top end. McGoldrick I'm sure will get his head down and continue to do well for us, and hopefully he will even sign a new deal!

Why couldn't ITFC deny that McGoldrick's leaving when they were asked by the BBC 20 minutes ago?

I'll believe this story at 11!

In all honesty I am looking forward to a couple of young premier starlets coming in on loan. COYB

Let's be realistic friends, we are what we are now .... a small-ish mediocre championship club. One to be respected maybe, but no longer feared. Damn it all, even fecking Huddersfield managed to make a purchase today! I am just thankful that I am old enough to have witnessed and enjoyed the Robson years. A sad sad period for our beloved club.

July 8th 2014:
'Joint-MD Ian Milne has confirmed that the cash from the sale of left-back Aaron Cresswell will go to manager Mick McCarthy towards strengthening his squad with more signings on the way. Asked whether that cash would go to McCarthy at this afternoon's press conference to announce the new Greene King sponsorship, Milne said: “Absolutely. That will be reinvested in the club .... with the players coming in and our existing squad, we've the nucleus of a very good squad which Mick continues to build on. ....It's been an exciting time and hopefully there'll be more [signings] to come as well. We are bringing more players in.”'

September 1st 2014:
So, erm? Any signings other than the odd free or loan? Where's the Cresswell money gone?

Bad news...with all this Didzy stuff going on it has acted as a smoke screen to the fact that we need people in, especially a creative midfielder. Not hopeful for the season now.

Sign up Ambrose, collision and Matthew Etherington on frees then sign two decent young forwards on loan, still got a very small squad, worried what will have when injuries and bans hit us.!

Great news about keeping mcgoldrick. Although selling for £8m would have been unbelievable I'd much rather have him playing for town.
Let's sign up johnny Williams, ambrose and collinson. Let them bed into the side and climb up the table
Let's not forget to get mcgoldrick, Berra and mings on long term contracts

Cannot remember the last time I saw a hint of ambition, from my once great club... Not into too many loans, which looks like the way it's going :/

A quiet transfer dead line day is fast becoming the norm for town fans sadly. For me it will be interesting to see how today has affected the likes of didz and mings. I feel didz may be slightly more level headed than mings, who might now get somewhat big headed as a result. The key will nlw be how to manage these 2 guys. In a way im glad the club have stuck to their valuation of didz, however on the flip side 7 million is still a hell of a lot of money for someone we signed on a free and has only really had 1 prolific loan spell in league 1 and a decent season in the championship. Cant help thinking 7 million would have gone a long way to strengthening the team. We could have also tried to include chris wood in any deal, but it obv didnt happen. Mixed feelings today for me

As per usual, boring football, boring transfer dealings, early cup exits, zero fan excitemeont, other than apparant blunt talk from a muppets reject and ffp dullness from an owner who is so up his own rectum will not allow his voice appear on radio. Pathetic, dull, un inspiring tripe.

Just shows the very limited ambitions that the owner has for the club. FFP my arsenal.

Fed up and bored with this.

I notice them up the road have signed another couple of players. Sorry folks but we are light years behind them and all the other wannabes in this league. Lower mid table if we are lucky.

Thanks Marcus I'm eternally grateful

How come the world and their mother can sign young premium players but we are told that clubs don't want to release them till after the transfer window?????????

Makes me laugh on here. What have I said so differently to others to make people mark my post in negatives? Muppets!
