Nouble Joins Coventry On Loan
Monday, 1st Sep 2014 23:40

Town striker Frank Nouble has joined League One Coventry City on a half-season loan in a late unexpected deadline day deal. The 22-year-old, who had been made available by boss Mick McCarthy, will be with the Sky Blues until January 4th.

The switch was completed shortly before the transfer window closed at 11pm.

“I spoke to Frank a week or two back and told him that he was free to look elsewhere for his football, either on loan or on a permanent move,” McCarthy told the club site.

“He’s worked hard for us but we’ve got four strikers now and he’s seen other players come in.

"He wants to play games. That's what he needs, to be playing on a Saturday afternoon.”

Coventry boss Steven Pressley told their official site: "What you get with Frank is a quick, mobile, powerful striker and that is exactly what we are looking for.

"I spoke to Frank about what he wants out of a move to Coventry City and his ambition certainly aligns with my expectations and I'm looking forward to seeing the positive impact I believe his addition will bring.

"I'm certainly excited to see what he is capable of and now we find ourselves in a situation where we have a number of strikers all eager to claim a starting place in front of more than 20,000 City supporters at the Ricoh Arena on Friday [against Gillingham].”

Nouble, whose Town contract is up at the end of the season, added on Twitter: "Can't wait to get going on my loan at Coventry."

Meanwhile, according to the Daily Mail Town were asking £11 million for David McGoldrick from interested parties on deadline day and turned down £2.5 million plus Jonny Williams on loan until January from Crystal Palace for left-back Tyrone Mings.

Thank god, although squad numbers are getting thin now, would love to see victor Anichebe on loan, think he is perfect to be up top with mcgoldrick. Big, strong, fast and can score goals

Hope they've got plenty of balls at Sixfields as I believe one of the stands behind the goal isn't particularly very big. Best of luck BIG Frank!

"Town have confirmed that there will be no ins or outs before the transfer window closes at 11pm.".... shortly before releasing the news of the loan of Big Frank. Is this a sign that the club don't know their Arsenes from their Wengers? Or just a last minute deal?

WaffleMan, "his goal record was disappointing" that must be the biggest understatement of the year!

Over 6ft2 tall, built like a brick sh*t house, can't win a header for sh*t due to his 50p head and no upper body strength strangely? Did I mention he can't hit a barn door either? Good luck Coventry!

Still think he can become a decent player, especially if he improves his technique and close control. His attitude and physique is second to none.

Will be an excellent move for Nouble. Maybe he can grab a few goals, get his confidence back and return to us a fresh player in Jan.

Not the last minute news I expected, but not going to be a big loss.

Sammon right now must be chewing at the bait for a place.

If we were asking for 11 million its no wonder leicester looked elsewhere. Was widely reported to be 8 million we were after. Hope he hasn't had his head turned too much. Worry more about mings, coz he thinks he already made it, coz he's played a handful of championship games. Good luck to frank, the work rate and effort was always there, but think league 1 is prob his level, he had far more chances than taylor ever has at town and didnt score enough goals

We should of let them both go ,Mings is a centre back playing left back , 2.5 mill plus a season from jonny williams , errrr are we stupid. McGoldrick should of been let go for anything north of 5 million , watch him have a poor season and leave for free next summer. Once again the wrong decisions from itfc , MM had influence here and i dont trust his judgment.

We need to be realistic here. Everyone was moaning that our most creative player might be sold. Now many seem to be moaning that he wasn't. All in all, i think no sales out is a pretty positive result. Mick has got rid of Taylor, who obviously didn't fit in, and now Frank, who unfortunately didn't make it. We have just seen a promising display from Bishop and Bru, we may get in Collinson and/or Ambrose, and who knows whether there will be a loan now the window is closed. Still feel this could be slow progress and that a decent side might gel out of the present situation. COYB!

Good luck Frank, never saw less than 100% effort from you. Really hope it works out this time around.

Why on earth did we reject the Tyrone Mings deal? We could of sold a player who's not good enough for this league for 2.5 million and got Jonny Williams back on loan in return? Parr is starting left back anyway? So we could of seen for the next 4 months Jonny and Didsy linking up with a pocket full of cash from the deal as well?

Plenty off effort no quality i am afraid but good luck in league 1 with Coventry.

luck frank. and Coventry for that matter. unfortunate but cant see nouble ever being any better than he is now. tho maybe hell be more suited to league1, tho preseason games and cup game don't support that theory. bluefeast. yet another who doesn't read the story properly, the Williams loan was only till January, not the whole season. and that's if an offer was actually made. read on itfc twitter that palace merely enquired about mings and we put a high price on his head to deter any offer.
