Berra Withdrawn From Scotland Squad
Wednesday, 3rd Sep 2014 11:08

Town have confirmed that centre-half Christophe Berra has been withdrawn from the Scotland squad facing World Cup holders Germany in their opening Euro 2016 qualifier in Dortmund on Sunday.

Manager Mick McCarthy revealed that the Blues’ three-goal top scorer was suffering with a sore knee following Saturday’s 1-1 draw at Derby County.

Berra tweeted: "Gutted to have pulled out of Scotland squad but I wish them all the best on Sunday. Injection done, now rest for a few days."

Scotland had already drafted in Aberdeen defender Mark Reynolds as cover.

Shame for Bera, deserves his call up, been magnificent, but glad from a Town point of view, can't afford to lose him (or his goals!) ;)

Feel Sorry for Berra; he would have loved playing against the German forwards.

Hopefully he will be fit for Millwall...just as tasty an adversary as Germany.

Well at least he won't be up against World class players - he might have dodged a bullet there, although most professionals will say they like to play at the highest level.

We need our only source of goals wrapped in cotton wool.
