McCarthy: If Jonny Was Available I'd Probably Bring Him In Saturday, 13th Sep 2014 06:00 Town manager Mick McCarthy has confirmed he’d bring Jonny Williams back to Portman Road on loan if he were to become available, however, Eagles boss Neil Warnock is currently not looking to let the 20-year-old leave Selhurst Park. McCarthy says if he targets players on ‘emergency’ loans then they will go straight into the side: “That’s available to us for a while yet. I won’t take loan players and then not play them, that’s a recipe for disaster. “You get them from Premier League clubs, they want them to play, obviously, that’s why they send them out. “If anybody asks me the obvious question, if Jonny Williams became available and I could get him, I probably would bring him in and play him.” Warnock plans to play the Wales international in Palace's Capital One Cup tie against Newcastle later this month but may look at loaning him out after that. Speaking to the South London Press, he said: "I like Jonny Williams - I always have done. I've always felt that his best position is just behind the striker. "If I can't get him involved straight away here then we'll look to get him somewhere where he can play in that position and I can watch him in four or five matches. "There are three or four Championship clubs that would have him tomorrow. But I want to have a look at all of the boys over the next couple of games and decide who I let go short term. "There is no chance that Jonny will be leaving the club permanently. I think he's going to be one hell of a player."
