Paul Anderson feels he is now into his stride after an injury picked up just before the start of the new season saw him miss the first two fixtures.

The midfielder’s first appearance of the current campaign came as a half-time substitute in the 1-0 defeat at Reading and he has been in from the start in Town’s subsequent four games.

Anderson said: “I was gutted to be ruled out because I felt like I had a really good pre-season and that I was in a really good place both fitness and performance-wise.

“Getting a little niggle before the first game is always disappointing but I was given my opportunity when I came on against Reading and I feel like I have done really well ever since. The gaffer has kept me in the team, which is nice.”

Anderson and his team-mates were delighted to win Saturday’s home game against a Millwall side who arrived at Portman Road in fifth place and will be looking for more of the same tonight when lowly Brighton are the visitors.

He added: “It was definitely a much-needed win against Millwall. We looked at the games we had leading up to the first international break and knew it was going to be difficult.

"We said ‘Let’s get as many points as we can from these first five games and take them as a bit of an added bonus’.

“Our season really started with the Millwall game because before that we were up against four teams — Fulham, Reading, Norwich and Derby — you would maybe expect to be in the top six.

“Millwall was our main starting point and we got the three points that we needed so now we are looking for the same against Brighton.”

chorltonskylineblue added 13:40 - Sep 16 I accept that Mick is making the best of a very limited budget, but I'm not sure about the mentality of the players in terms of what they think they can do as a team. I keep reading about how they think other teams have great players, etc. and that any points picked up are a bonus. I get the sense that less lauded teams like Bournemouth and Brentford go into each match feeling they can give it a go and win. I worry we've been in this league too long!
