Pompey Youngster Linked
Monday, 29th Sep 2014 11:55

Town are one of a number of Championship clubs reportedly keeping tabs on Portsmouth left-back Dan Butler, who is out of contract next summer.

The Blues, Brighton and Millwall are amongst the sides eyeing the highly-rated 20-year-old Pompey youth product, according to Sky Sports.

Butler broke through into the Portsmouth team during 2012/13 and, having spent time on loan with Havant and Waterlooville and Aldershot, has now made 24 starts and five sub appearances for the League Two club.

The defence is pretty solid but I'd like to see us sign a right back as I don't like seeing Chambo there at all if anything happened to Parr. Can only see us signing this lad if we cash in on Mings.

We're going to get ourselves a reputation of being a left back finishing school

Good to see us linked with promising youngsters.

FFF will make Town a more attractive option for youngsters coming up through the ranks where a route to first team is a definite possibility.

Well the last two obscure left-backs we signed have developed reasonably well wouldn't you say?

WE should set up a conveyor belt system for left backs, sign them up from obscurity, make them fullfll there potential and sell them off as stars. Much better than the days of having Dan Harding or Ben Thatcher making up the numbers there.

Pretty good to have a back-up for Mings as well even if our squad looks strong. Smart move to look at Young players for the future. And even if Mings is excellent, we can not expect him to play every game. One yellow away from suspension I think.
