Town Lots Up For Grabs in Charity Auction
Saturday, 18th Oct 2014 13:00

The Sir Bobby Robson Foundation and East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices (EACH) have joined forces to host an online auction which includes once in a lifetime sporting experiences, including some involving Town.

The Blues have donated the opportunity to watch the squad train followed by lunch with manager Mick McCarthy and his players.

There’s also the chance to bid for directors’ box seats for a game at Portman Road plus a meal in the Sir Bobby Robson Suite and a pre-match tour of the ground.

Also up for grabs is an opportunity for a team or 16 friends aged 12-15 to train with a qualified FA coach at the Town academy, while another similar lot offers the chance for a team or 16 friends aged 16-18 to train at Playford Road.

There's also a chance to join the Life's a Pitch regulars for a show on Radio Suffolk.

In the wider world of football, you can bid for two all-inclusive gala dinner tickets to the FIFA Ballon d’Or Awards in Zurich as guests of FIFA president Sepp Blatter or for the opportunity to be at the 2015 PFA Awards Dinner.

There’s also the chance for two people to attend training at Barcelona and watch a game at Camp Nou and to watch the 2015 UEFA Champions League final at Berlin's Olympiastadion.

In amongst more than 100 lots - you can find the full list and bid here - there are plenty away from football including a six-person tour of the McLaren Technology Centre & McLaren Production Centre, which includes McLaren Racing — the Formula One team and McLaren Automotive — the manufacturers of the McLaren P1â„¢ and 650S super sports cars.

Gina Long, who has organised the auction along with her special events committees, said: “We are indebted to the generosity of all those who have so kindly supported our special auction where 100% of the money raised goes to the two charities.

“Words can’t express just how grateful we are for all the fantastic lots we’ve received. Football fans are spoilt for choice with this auction — from rubbing shoulders with the world’s greatest footballers on the red carpet at the FIFA Ballon d’Or Awards in Zurich, to meeting Harry Redknapp at QPR and Loftus Road directors’ box tickets — there really are some fabulous once in a lifetime opportunities to be had.

“Not only will you make a dream come true in meeting your heroes or getting your hands on signed merchandise, you’ll also be supporting the Sir Bobby Robson Foundation and EACH — two fantastic charities who will change lives with the funds raised.”

The Online Auction is live now with bidding closing at 8pm on Sunday 19th October. To keep up to date with all the auction news on Twitter follow: #EACHSIRBOBBYAuction

Sounds great.

Would the auction process for the two tickets to be Sepp Blatter's guest differ in any way from the standard? Would any face to face meetings be required prior to bidding? Would I need to provide a complimentary Rolex or similar?

Great cause and I wish all involved the best. I shall try and bid on a few things, but my pockets are pretty empty at the moment so maybe a donation will be all I can do at the moment.
