Injured Williams Out of Wales Squad
Sunday, 12th Oct 2014 17:07

Blues loanee Jonny Williams has been forced out of the Wales squad for their Euro 2016 qualifier against Cyprus on Monday having suffered an ankle injury during Friday’s 0-0 draw with Bosnia-Herzegovina.

“Jonny’s not going to be available,” Welsh manager Chris Coleman confirmed. “We were worried on Friday night because we didn’t expect him to last 90 minutes as he lacked games at domestic level.

"There were two or three heavy challenges on him and it has unfortunately paid its price.

“He’s a gutsy player and greedy on the pitch – he’s not afraid to go right at the heart of the opposition. He’s very positive in his play.

“It’s another midfielder and it’s a position we didn’t want to lose another player but we have. It’s done.

“It’s bare bones but we still have enough in this group to be positive and go and get the win tomorrow night.”

Daryl Murphy and Christophe Berra are now the only two Town players with international squads.

Murphy’s Ireland face Germany in Gelsenkirchen in their next qualifier on Tuesday when Berra’s Scotland take on Poland in Warsaw.

Meanwhile, Huddersfield Town are keen to sign Blues skipper Luke Chambers on loan with a view to a permanent deal when his contract expires in the summer, according to claims in one of this morning's tabloids.

It seems highly unlikely that either the club or the player would be interested in such a move.

Elsewhere, writing in his column in the Irish Sunday Independent, Blues winger Stephen Hunt says ex-Town boss Roy Keane recently asked him if he wanted to buy his house in Woodbridge, which has been back on the market since May.

Hopefully nothing that keeps him out for too long!

Hope he is fit for the weekend. The Chambers link seems very odd! Why would we let him go on loan?!

pretty sure chambers isn't going to be allowed to leave anytime soon. However if something has to give i do not want to see Tommy Smith leave the club as he is young and still IMO has a vast amount of progression to come.

Hope Jonny is ok for saturday, he is absoloute class and provides that little creative spark in midfield to go alongside the industry and work rate. He also puts in a real shift too which is a bonus. The Chambers link has only surfaced due to him being out of contract at the end of the season. In my eyes we need to tie him down to a new contract as he is a massive part of what we are trying to achieve, he's a great pro and cult hero with his fist pump celebration.

Typical!..Bad news for us and Wales.

The Chambers link is a bit bizarre to say the least..probably total cobblers.

Hope Jonny has a good week off and recovers for Blackburn on Saturday. It's nice to see our lads play international football again but I certainly haven't missed the injuries they get while away! That Chambers link to Huddersfield is one of the strangest rumours I've ever heard. Why would we loan him out and why would he even want to go there?

Why on earth would we turn down boatloads of cash for McGoldrick and Mings and then let Chambers go to Huddersfield on loan??

Fair dinkum papers write tripe.
Just imagine Chambers on loan, Hewitt still on loan, Berra and Mings get another yellow next match. We are faced with a back 4 of Hammond, Clarke, Smith, Parr.

well although loosing johny to a injury, how ever as our midfield is strong, we have our own teddy bear to replace him so not all bad news, also it wasnt that long ago we could give our players away, now every tom dick and harry wants them lol, but chambo will sign a new deal, so mick sort that out , he is our new legend in the making along with a few other players

Well, Huddersfield got away with it once with Jordan Rhodes and guess they thought no harm in having another go--------we are run by different people now though as they will very shortly find out.

Any truth to the rumours that Arsenal are lining up a bid for Mings in the January window?
