Murphy a Doubt for Germany Clash
Monday, 13th Oct 2014 11:54

Blues striker Daryl Murphy is a doubt ahead of the Republic of Ireland’s Euro 2016 qualifier against Germany in Gelsenkirchen on Tuesday with an achilles’ tendon problem picked up during Saturday's 7-0 victory over Gibraltar.

The injury is only described as “slight” and the 31-year-old, who won his 13th cap when he came on as a sub at the weekend, has not been withdrawn from the squad making the trip to Germany.

Yesterday, loanee Jonny Williams was ruled out of the Wales squad for tonight's game against Cyprus, while Christophe Berra is the only other Town player currently away on international duty with Scotland facing Poland - who beat World Cup holders Germany 2-0 on Saturday - in Warsaw on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, Blues midfielder Teddy Bishop has tweeted that he is currently unwell, which may make him a doubt for Saturday's home game against Blackburn Rovers.

if he is a concern at all surely he should be back at town getting treatment?

He sat out training on Sunday and will not be involved in the team that plays Germany.

PS When he came on in the match Vs Gibraltar , he played like he was already carrying an injury.

This is what happens when we once again have more players on international duty;but shows progress that is being made at ITFC.
Can see why Mick now needs a larger squad.

This is the problem having limited options at the back and up front. I'm still not convinced about Sammon, especially after missing an open goal against Rotherham, whilst I doubt Bajner will make us promotion contenders. We have Smith at the back, but no other senior cover.
