Marcus Stewart finally signed a four-and-a-half-year contract with Town this afternoon ending a week of intense speculation.

The fee has been confirmed as £2.5 million plus £250,000 should Town be promoted to the Premiership.

Stewart has been allocated the number 27 shirt and is likely to make his debut in the away game with Barnsley on Saturday.

George Burley said this afternoon: "I am putting a lot of faith in the boy - and the thing that encouraged me most was his enthusiasm to come here. It took a little while to persuade him.

"We have a wage structure here that we were not prepared to break, but Marcus wanted to join us and I'm hopeful he will help us to reach the Premiership."

Me too George. Meanwhile Titus Bramble has returned to Town after his loan spell with Colchester. With Manu Thetis and Mark Venus injured Town have felt that centre-half cover is required.
