Keane Tried to Change Colour of Town's Kit
Keane Tried to Change Colour of Town's Kit
Thursday, 23rd Oct 2014 10:55

Former Town boss Roy Keane has revealed that he asked owner Marcus Evans if he could change the colour of the club’s first-team shirts during his time in charge but was told it would cause “uproar”, which the Irishman claimed would lead to “four people taking to the streets”.

Speaking to the Daily Telegraph, Keane reiterated comments he made in his recent book The Second Half regarding the Town the colour of Town’s shirts.

“Rangers, City, sorry, I can’t be doing with blue,” he said. “Childish? Yeah, obviously. But I did once say to the owner, ‘Any chance we might be able to change the colour of the kit?’

"He said, ‘Nah, there’d be uproar’. Which at Ipswich meant four people taking to the streets.”

Keane also talks about an unsuccessful team meeting which took place in the wake of a poor performance.

“So I say: ‘Right, you can say what you like, lads. Who’s first?’ The centre-half sticks his hand up. And he’s been really getting on my nerves. But I say, ‘OK, what’s your problem?’

“And he goes: ‘Every time I get the ball, no one’s showing for me.’ Well, I lose my temper at that. I give him a right pasting, you useless this, you useless that, you couldn’t find a team-mate with a pass if he was standing two foot in front of you.

“Then when I’ve finished I go: ‘Anyone else got anything to say? Thought not.’ Afterwards I’m talking to the staff and I go: ‘How do you think that went lads?’ Not well was the general opinion.”

Probably a perfect example of Roy Keane's man management skills.

Couldn't hate this poor excuse of a bloke any more if I tried! He is without a doubt the worst thing ever to happen to this football club. I hope this is the last ITFC story which has his name mentioned ever again.

Royston,i'd seriously think about keeping your idiotic memories to yourself in future..you're just coming accross as an even more arrogant idiot by the day.

Only a matter of time til he's on "celebrity Big Brother".

Club was too small for him. Not his fault, never his fault. Becoming king of the soundbite, something he hates. Childish moron.

The guy is a f***ing idiot. After reading some of the previous excerpts, I thought maybe he was more humble than he appeared. Now I just think he's a bellend.

He's the sort of bloke who thinks he's bigger than the football club...can never get it out of my head the amount of times the camera would pan in on him and his side kick in the dug out just mute and without any emotion, that's probably how much he really cared about the club.

You read my mind, Smithy. Wouldn't it be great to beat Villa in the third round of the FA Cup this season? (Assuming that he isn't out of a job by then...)

Fair play to Marcus! A different owner may have wanted to change it but it's good to know he realises what the fans want!

As for keane well. Do you expect and better? The guy is a clown. Truly the worst manager we have and will ever have!

I love Roy! The more he talks the more he reveals himself to the world as the conceited, dim nobody that was always hiding behind that rather good footballer-turned-egotist and thug. Few men have ever equalled his talent for condemning themselves out of his own mouth. Seriously unpleasant doesn't even begin to sum him up. Sad s-d!

Negative negative. Why would Fergeson fall out with such a good guy?

This rather strengthens my opinion that Roy Keane's only agenda is Roy Keane. No respect whatsoever for the traditions and supporters of the club, which any true football fan knows are what keep us all coming back. I supported him while he was here - didn't like him much, but supported him because he was "our" manager. Obviously the feeling was not reciprocated. So I can now safely say, Roy, "good riddance," although I know of course you won't give a "f**€£@!! toss" about what I think.

Irishtim everything you said about this T**t was spot on pal. Is a club too small for any individual? My answer would be of course not....wish Sir Alf and Sir Bobby were here, to have a word. Doesn't say much for your big club T**t, if my memory serves me right, your lot have taken a few hidings of our small club over the years.
Don't understand why the likes of Delaney took this crap from him....the man needs a whack. Tried it on with big Mick and went home, letting his country down...guess Ireland is too small for him as well !

Think this should prove to all that MM is a top class manager and person comparing to that sad man.2002 at the world cup should have shown that to everyone now at last he is being shown for what he is. A spoilt arrogant bully.

Everytime this guy opens his mouth he proves what an idiot he is. My guess is that if we draw Villa in the cup he would be elsewhere on a scouting mission. The guy makes even Atilla the Hun look like a nice guy, Surely if someone bumped him off they couldn't be done for Homicide it would have to Pesticide....
