Nouble Returns to Net Winner for Sky Blues
Sunday, 26th Oct 2014 09:19

On-loan Town striker Frank Nouble returned from injury to score the winner as his loan side Coventry came from 2-0 down to beat Peterborough 3-2 in League One at the Ricoh Arena.

The 23-year-old has been out with a hip problem and was making only his fifth appearance. The goal was his third for the Sky Blues.

"That was massive," Nouble said. “We can use this as the turning point of our season. We left everything out there, we did everything we could that second half, and we got the result.

"It has been frustrating watching the boys play, but I'm glad to be back with a bang. I just thought that if we won the second half we would be in with a chance, we had to turn that first half performance around.

"I just want to help in any way I can. If I can get the goals to move this football club forward then that's what I want to do.”

Elsewhere, Paul Taylor played the first 83 minutes as Rotherham drew 1-1 at Brighton in the Championship. Fellow Blues loanee Anthony Wordsworth, who has been suffering with a dead leg, wasn’t in the Millers 18.

Elliott Hewitt played the full 90 minutes as League One Colchester draw 2-2 at Swindon in League One, while Freddie Veseli was an unused sub as Port Vale beat Leyton Orient 3-0 at home.

Striker Jack Marriott came on in the 87th minute as Woking beat Boreham Wood 2-1 in the FA Cup fourth qualifying round, while centre-half Omar Sowunmi was an unused sub as Braintree drew their tie 0-0 at Weymouth.

Young midfielder Jack Willbye scored as Bury Town beat Tonbridge Angels 2-1 in the Ryman League Premier Division.

So Marriott now cup tied. Will be surprised if we see him again. Reminds me a bit of Ronan Murray who looks to be doing ok at Notts County, but probably not good enough for the Championship.

Big frank has found his level. Great guy and works hard and puts himself about, but thats where it ends. Sammon is a slightly more expensive version of nouble to be honest

i know silly!the reason i put that particular post is because i think sammon doesn't complement our other strikers, even though nouble did make me pull my hair out,i'd rather have him simply due to effect they have on the pitch, sammon for me is not the same standard as murphy and mcgoldrick,if he was i,m pretty sure we'd be top right now. nouble took the stick but he made more impact than sammon has.and you cannot disagree that nouble did have some very good games for us,but when came time for him to take his chance he didn't. for me,sammon he looks like he is trying to play in a way he is not used to,i hope sammon makes me eat my words, all our expectations have gone up in the last couple of seasons, perhaps i'm just impatient, but at this time think we need a bit more from him.
