Blackpool Sack Boss
Monday, 27th Oct 2014 18:47

Town's weekend opponents Blackpool have sacked manager José Riga, the Belgian having only taken charge in the summer. The Blues are in action at Bloomfield Road on Saturday afternoon.

A terse statement on the Blackpool official website reads: “Blackpool Football Club can confirm that head coach José Riga has had his contract terminated with immediate effect. No further comment will be made at this stage.”

Blackpool are currently bottom of the Championship having taken only six points from their first 14 games.

Riga and chairman Karl Oyston rarely saw eye to eye during the former Charlton boss’s four-and-a-half month spell at Bloomfield Road. A row over transfer policy saw the Seasiders start the season with only 13 players.

Former Birmingham boss Lee Clark is reported to be in the frame to take over.

Let's hope there isn't a new man in place before we play them. Never a good time to visit.

First the curse of Manager of the Month, now the curse of the new manager's first game. Take your time in getting the right man, Blackpool.

Let's hope they take their time so as we can do to them what Bournemouth did to Brum

This shouldn't ultimately make any difference to our prospects - they have such a disparate squad that I can't see them surviving this season - but I can't deny that with or without Riga, I've been feeling concerned that we could slip up in this most winnable of games given our apparent crisis of confidence in the last 10mins of games recently.

Yes Blackpool have a poor looking squad but new manager syndrome does sometimes work especially early on. I see Lee Clark is 1/4 with Bet Victor but there are some decent names in there including Billy Davies who always does a good job in the short term. Just the sort of bloke they need. What I say is why always us ?

Apparently Lee Clark will be announced as their new manager in the next couple of days.

Let's focus on ourselves though and if we play likewe have done in games this season we can win. Of course they will be up for it if Clark is the new boss or even in the stands, remember Steve McLaren last season? Still fancy us though.

COYB!

Should make little difference. Three points is the only acceptable result on Saturday.

Blackpool are a shambles - feel for their fans but at the same time hope with give them a good beating - Birmingham v Bournemouth comes to mind

More to the point we would never have done a Bournemouth and beaten Birmingham 8-0. It would have been a nervy 3-1 or 3-2. It's not in our nature to attack with abandon and put teams to the sword.

If we can't beat a poor Blackpool away on saturday it'll makes you wonder what team we can beat away, as mentioned 3 points and nothing else!

We need to make sure Bajner and Sammon play up front. They are the right pair to destroy Rentmeister and Clarke. Sammons work rate and Bajners aerial prowess will cause havoc in the Blackpool back line.

Playing Murphy and MCgoldrick is a mistake. Clarke has good acceleration and will cancel out MCgoldrick. Bajner will pick up more knock downs than Murphy.

Lots of long balls needed...Blackpool back-line are low in confidence.

Well I reckon that the teams we,ll be playing in the next few weeks, the managers will be worrying about there jobs right now.Just how many teams have we played where the manager has just been sacked in the last 18 months?

blackpool may be strgulling but The best odds on the fron page has ipswich odds of winning at evens. I wish I was that optimistic..

Actually I would be had we not got into the conceding late goals habit again
