Hewitt Returns to Colchester
Thursday, 13th Nov 2014 13:24

Right-back Elliott Hewitt has returned to Colchester United for a second month on loan, manager Mick McCarthy has revealed.

“Elliott Hewitt’s gone back to Colchester,” McCarthy confirmed.

Wales U21 international Hewitt returned to the Blues recently as cover while Jonny Parr was suffering with a groin problem having been with the U’s for a month, during which time he made six appearances.

Makes sense as we've got no game this weekend.

Hope Mick realises that Hewitt can do a job for the team, If he is given a run in the team. When Jewell signed him he had great potential, similar to Mings has now and it's a shame he hasn't ever kicked on. I reckon it's the whole, is he a full back or midfielder debate with hewitt

I hope that negotiations are ongoing for a new contract for Hewitt because he could have a big future at ITFC.

Can't argue with the recent results and performances but I would rather have Hewitt on the bench than some others. He would be cover for defence and midfield. I just hope he doesn't disappear as I like what I have seen from his few appearances.

I think Mick see's Elliot as one he want's to use in the future hence making sure he is getting as much first team football now as possible. He could quite easily keep him here and have him on the bench as he is better cover as to some others we have, but with him actually playing first team football this will progress him far better than sitting on the bench. Long-term thinking from Mick

I hope that you are right Eddie.Mick has made very few(if any) mistakes with who he keeps and who he lets go so hopefully he sees EH as one for the future.I will be happier when I hear that he signed a new contract.
