McCarthy Considering Loan Move
Thursday, 20th Nov 2014 17:21

Boss Mick McCarthy says he could look at bringing in another loanee to replace the injured Jonny Williams prior to next Thursday’s ‘emergency’ loan deadline. The Palace man is out until at least mid-December with a groin problem when the Eagles may utilise their 24-hour recall.

“It’s possible that we will look to bring someone in having lost Jonny,” McCarthy told the club site.

“It suited us having Jonny playing behind a front three and that is role we could look at. I’m not sure we have another one that can do that role just like that.

“Other than that, it’s difficult trying to bring players in at this stage when they might come here and not play straight away.

“If someone is prepared to come in and be part of a very good squad and take their chance then maybe something could happen.”

Agree with Mick, we could do with options with the busy Christmas period approaching. For me we need a better striking option. Let's hope Murphy and McGoldrick stay fit but if they have an off day or pick up a niggle, our options are limited to the hard working but non goal scoring Sammon and Bajner who has yet to adapt or even look like adapting to the Championship. This could be our downfall if injuries bite.

Do we really need a replacement for Jonny? We already have Hyam, Bru, Bishop, Tabb, Skuse, Ambrose and Collison? I'd be looking more into a striker

I do think Bent would be a great signing, a true poacher but would he be prepared to come back and sit on the bench?

Like the thinking Mickey.

Tractorcam, Micks looking for a direct replacement for Jonny so hardly Tabb, Collisons got his bad knee, Skuse isn't attacking enough so not so many options for him as you think.

I think an attack minded midfielder or an out and out striker would be the type of player to get in. Definitely think mm needs to get at least one extra first teamer for the busy December fixtures

Yep, with only 47 midfielders left in the 1st team squad, we need to bring someone else in on loan. Drivel.

Serge Gnabry from Arsenal would be perfect. Similar player, can play wide but better through the middle.

Joel Campbell, Gnabry, Javis, Bent ?? Get real people our squad cost 10k these boys are on 20-40k a week I think the top 4 position we've in has gone to your head, we've more likely to get an Aston villa youngster that won't get a game like jordon graham last season if we've lucky that is, doubt he will replace him, unless Paul green fancies a return... Touch tackle ... Could do with another striker a Didz in behind can't stop watching his assists for Ireland unreal vision, would like to see us take a punt on joe garner from Preston technique and nippy in behind, ruined us in the cup a couple of years back, failing that Freddie Sears down the road is putting a few in, not top players I know but on a tight budget could be the answer.... Oh how could I forget we still have frank nouble on our books, hopefully he has some new shin pads for Coventry as he wore his out playing for us #shinsonly

Bent is not a Mick type player. Mick sees talent as a luxury extra that you add onto graft. What's he going to think about someone like a Rhodes or a Bent who does nothing except apply the finishing touch (albeit superbly)? I can't see it happening ... which means he will be in a town shirt before the week is out.... probably! :-)

Before the season started we were only relying on the central midfield partnership of Skuse and Hyam. With the emergence of Bishop and the fresh face of Bru who has looked good when played I'm not really bothered about adding any other loanees to our midfield although, I think I would like to see Mick bring in a decent striker or an attack minded player who could fill the hole behind the front two.

Let's hope Bishop stays fit, the boy has a very bright future. Hope Mick reinforces the squad, a touch of quality would be great, gives everyone a lift. COYB.

I have a feeling we will make a signing or two in January that will make us all very happy.

What about Ambrose? Surely he can play that role.

Bent will be good for smoothing out the pitch divots. Have you see the lardy recently?

OOPS! In light of the ongoing saga in Wigan, I'd better not be fatist.
