Marriott Back on Goal Trail
Tuesday, 2nd Dec 2014 21:46

Jack Marriott ended his recent goal drought as he netted loan side Woking’s opener in their 2-0 home victory over Altrincham this evening.

Marriott, who had gone nine starts and three sub appearances without scoring, stabbed home from close range from a corner on 48 to claim the second goal of his latest spell with the Cards before being replaced in the 66th minute.

The 20-year-old, who scored 13 goals in 23 starts and one sub appearance during two spells with the Vanarama Conference side last season, previously scored in his third Woking debut on September 27th.

The victory sees the Cards climb to second in the table, seven points behind leaders Barnet with a game in hand. Marriott is on loan until January 4th.

A goal drought in the Conference?! I think we may as well release this lad sadly.

^^Stupid comment. He's only as good as the players around him providing the chances, ever think of that?

some of our 'fans' do my head in, Marriott is 20 years old. Get behind him!

If they're 2nd in the table you'd like to think chances are being made, but as we all know strikers suffer these parts of there careers let's hope it's a blip, any blues fan wants him to be a star, but it's just as likely he,ll just be run of the mill but here's hoping

Thats good to see and maybe if he gets back to the sort of goal scoring earlier then MM will have another look at him. He's only 20 so plenty of time but hope he doesn't get moved on and we have regrets like Rhodes.

Woking are second in the table having scored 39 goals. Only Barnet and Torquay have scored more. So chances are being created and purely on those facts it doesn't look like a good return.

BUT... but don't forget that he has only been there since the end of September and we don't know precisely what role the manager has hime in. For all we know the manager my have him in a more defensive behind the front two position where chances are fewer.

I wish people wouldn't come on here slagging players off without knowing the facts. Similarly it just as ridiculous to suggest that he should walk into our first team because he scores a tap in goal in the conference.

I'm just pleased that he is getting first team football and developing his career. If it works out for him at Town that all the better, but if it doesn't it wouldn't be for the lack of trying.

Would Still rather see Jack coming off the bench than Sammon.

Wish MM brought him back into the fold here. Surely he could have some game time as we are making light work of this league.
