Strange Game For Loanee Hunt
Thursday, 4th Dec 2014 06:00

Blues loanee Noel Hunt admits that his loyalties will be slightly split when his parent club Leeds visit Portman Road on Saturday. The 31-year-old, the scorer of Town’s dramatic 95th minute winner on his debut at Charlton last weekend, is ineligible for the fixture.

“It's a bit of a strange one for me,” he said. “I'm here and am loving being here, but they are still my club.

“I had a look at my phone [after Saturday’s match] and I had five or six texts from the lads back there who are buzzing for me. That's nice. Leeds are a great club who have great fans that are passionate about their football.

“Obviously it's been frustrating times for them and sometimes it has boiled over. They have good players and good people though and I wish them all the best.”

Hunt, who hadn’t played for Leeds since the opening week of the season and is out of contract at the end of the season, says he received plenty of good wishes from those at Elland Road when he joined the Blues on loan until January 3rd a week ago today.

"I had a lot of nice comments off people when I left there saying 'Good luck, you're one of the best pros we've seen’,” he added. “I’ve just tried to keep doing the right things for the right people.

"When it comes to matchday all you want to do is play so it's tough when you know you've got no chance of being anywhere near it. At times it feels like you're just training for the sake of training, but you can't think like that.

"You have to train with the mindset that you're going to be involved, even though you know that's not going to be the case, or else you end up dropping your standards.”

Will he be giving manager Mick McCarthy the benefit of his inside knowledge? "I know a lot about their team, so we'll see what happens!"

Well Noel my boy if you were treated as badly by Leeds as has been made out then you shouldn't feel any loyalty towards them at all!!! And as for their fans they are the most deluded fans in the country. Yea they are still a big club, but a Club that in recent years has been in league 1 is a club that think they are better than what they are. But they are champions of Europe you know ;)

Good lad, a bad employer doesn't mean bad colleagues, however deep down I'm sure old Noel will be happy come 5 Saturday with a positive itfc result! Loving this season and bet365 screening every game live in aus is a right treat! Be better next year of course as all prem matches are live on foxtel! Super blues!

To be honest what choice has he got, he's got to keep his powder dry with Leeds, so has to say something to keep on the right side of them, but got treated so badly there in his heart of hearts doesn't want to go back, but he's only here for a month, who knows in a months time he could be back in the Leeds team, I think deep down, he's wanting an ITFC win :)

Assumes Noel Hunt ineligible and Williams and Bru still injured along with Stewart. Ambrose, Henshall and Collison to miss out.

Hopefully this may be another one of those games that fires up Stephen after the way they treated his brother and we get a real standout performance from him.

who down voted chrisl_itfc, would be happy with that lineup, aslong as skuse and tabb arent playing together think we will be ok, would rather bru than skuse but he is probably not going to be fit. i am definatly not anti skuse, he does a lot of for the team its just i would rather see some crativity in the middle, thats why we look a different team when you have hyam doing the skuse role and bru/bishop/williams giving us something a little bit different, thought against charlton we were very two dimensional. hope we beat that bunch of dirty northen monkeys, u think i hate them more than the scum
coyb!!!!!

I down voted Chrisl_itfc... Simply because there is no Bishop in the starting line up. Why would you start Ambrose over him?

For me i'd have...

-----------------Bart---------------

Parr--Chambo--Berra--Mings

-------Skuse----Hyam------------
--------------Bishop-------------

--Hunt----Dids----Murphy

If Hyam isn't fit, Tabb would come in.

Apologies, I appear to have let man flu get the better of me and misread Anderson as Ambrose...Even so... I'd stick with 4-3-3 and bring Bish in.

Sorry , very disappointed he feels so much to dirty Leeds , I can't beleive he even cares about them. Mick won't like that one bit I don't think. No unrest please from any differentials , one and all for the cause or just go back tobLeeds!
