Vale and Town Set for Veseli Talks
Friday, 12th Dec 2014 14:31

Port Vale are set to speak to Town regarding defender Freddie Veseli’s future. The former Swiss U21 international’s loan with the League One side is up on January 4th.

The 22-year-old is out of contract at Town at the end of the season and is almost certainly available on a free transfer with manager Mick McCarthy having said he has no future at Portman Road.

The former Manchester City and Manchester United academy trainee was previously linked with a move to Bosnian side FK Sarajevo.

But Vale boss Rob Page told the Stoke Sentinel that his club will begin talks with Town soon: “There will be conversations within the next week to 10 days and then hopefully in January we will come out of this Christmas spell, hit the ground running and hopefully have a clearer picture of where we are.”

Having started his spell at Vale Park playing at right-back, Veseli has recently impressed at centre-half.

“He is an athletic full-back who is more than comfortable playing centre-back and he is a good enough defender to do it,” Page added.

“He has the ability on the ball as well to see a pass and play forward for us, as have many others in the team. Freddie has held his own and given a good account of himself, long may that continue.”
