Foley Handed New Role
Thursday, 18th Dec 2014 06:00

Steve Foley has been handed a new role coaching the other coaches at the Town academy.

“Steve gets involved at every age group with every coach we’ve got because he’s got such good experience,” academy director Bryan Klug said.

“We haven’t actually put a title to it, but that’s what he does. It’ll be something like head of coaching development. He’s just a great bloke to have around with fantastic experience.”

Foley, 61, first joined the Blues senior staff in a specialist skills coach position under Jim Magilton in 2006

He left Town in 2010 during Roy Keane’s time as boss but was brought back to the club by Klug as a youth development coach in the summer of 2012 working with 12-16-year-olds. He also works part time at non-league Needham Market.

Meanwhile, Klug says Town should know more about the process of reapplying for Category One status in the new year having missed out last summer by 0.3 percent.

“Maybe after Christmas we’ll have more of an indication of what the prerequisites will be to make another bid for it,” he added.

So we have coaches, and a coach to coach the coaches. So who coaches the coach who coaches the coaches? Although the man is clearly a good influence around the place, so welcome back Steve!

Wasn't he 'Technical skills coach' at a time when the team couldn't pass water and treated the ball like a hot potato? used to wonder what he bought to it all back then, but it's a different place now, better players, management structure ect, so welcome back, make your mark.

Seasider - you're absolutely right - Steve is / has been back on the Staff at Portman Road for some time, just goes to show how far off the mark some people are in terms of what really goes on at the Club.

Steve Foley - Top Man for sure - real ITFC Pedigree.
