Town Handed More Tickets for Cup Trip
Thursday, 18th Dec 2014 11:19

Town have been given an additional allocation of 1,600 tickets for the FA Cup third round tie at Southampton on Sunday 4th January (KO 3pm). The Blues have sold all of the initial 3,100 provided by the Premier League club with the new tranche of tickets selling quickly.

Lee Hyde, Town’s director of retail operations, says the Saints have gone out of their way to provide the Blues with additional seats for the tie.

“Southampton, and in particular Michael Jolliffe, Saints’ ticket office manager, have been fantastic,” he told the club site.

“They’ve moved a number of conditions which are usually in place that can restrict a club’s reluctance to ‘gamble’ financially when taking the extra five per cent that away clubs are entitled to in the Cup.

“Southampton have also agreed to move around 1,200 season ticket holders to accommodate the increased allocation from Town.

“The team off the pitch are doing everything they can to increase the attendance for the game and it’s fairly obvious from our current sale levels that there will be huge following for Ipswich on the day.

“It’s great that sense has been seen all around, allowing for as many Town fans as possible to back the boys.”

The new tickets, which are on general sale and could sell out today, cost £10 for adults, £5 for concessions and £3 for juniors.

Town expect to fill 20 coaches for the game with spaces on coaches nine and 10 currently being sold.

Match or coach tickets are available from ITFC Direct or Planet Blue at Portman Road.

Might be able to snatch a draw as Saints going thru a bad patch with 5 defeats on the spin including League Cup.
Due for a good cup run which helps the finances

I am amazed - great support - I could not justify the journey for what could be a reserve game

Can we take the same number to Millwall 2 weeks later? A bigger match

I don't get your point MickMillsTash. The allocation for Millwall will be much less but will undoubtedly sell out.

I agree with MickMillsTash although I feel slightly guilty about it.
I have been to 8 away league games and have tickets for Brentford and Millwall but I am not going to Southampton.
I would not expect MM to play our key players or anyone close to suspension or anyone carrying an injury.
I would agree that Millwall is a bigger game and it would be nice to take large numbers there. I do not know what our away allocation will be for there but I seem to recall from previous visits there being lots of empty seats in our section, whether 4700 at Millwall is feasible I am not sure but would certainly hope that we sell whatever we can get.

PJH - I doubt Millwall would allocate us a quarter of their stadium!

Brad_C_ITFC-i inagine that you are right but unlike Charlton where we always seem to take a lot there does not seem to be similar numbers going to Millwall.
I am just hoping that this time there are no empty seats in our section and that some of those going to Southampton but not necessarily to other away games take into account the importance of the Millwall game.

Fantastic support for a winnable game. We are on a good run, they are not. Should be a great day on the south coast.

Good stuff. I think it's a really winnable game with nothing to lose. Could be up to 5,000 fans going so the atmosphere should be great too! Not sure what sort of team we'll put out seeing as we play Derby the following weekend though.

I'm sure we will get a good following for Millwall - don't you worry :) I think there's just a lot of perks for fans to go to Southampton, especially those who live in the South West and there are a fair few.

I think it will be a difficult game for town and I'm looking forward to seeing how well we cope against a team that have done much better than many football pundits expected from the start of the season. I won't be going although I would expect town to fair better at trying to secure promotion than to concentrate on a cup run :) I could be wrong of course and I hope town can do both ;)
