Marriott on Target in Defeat
Sunday, 28th Dec 2014 17:16

Striker Jack Marriott netted the fourth goal of his loan spell at Woking but couldn’t prevent his side from falling to a 2-1 home defeat to Aldershot in the Vanarama Conference.

The 20-year-old, who scored in the 88th minute with his team 2-0 down, is with the Cards until January 4th but is likely to remain out on loan either with Woking or elsewhere.

Speaking last week manager Mick McCarthy said: ”He needs to play somewhere regularly and get some goals before he even thinks about getting in my team.”

Meanwhile, neither Paul Taylor nor Anthony Wordsworth were in the Rotherham 18 as the Millers drew 1-1 at Blackpool in the Championship. The duo seem certain to return to Portman Road at the end of their loans, also on January 4th.

Frank Nouble played the full 90 minutes as Coventry drew 0-0 at home to Chesterfield in League One.

Nouble is yet to convince Sky Blues boss Steven Pressley to sign him on a permanent basis when his loan is up, again on January 4th.

"He came to see me after being left out and I said to him that he has to convince me that he wants to stay here,” Pressley said.

“And he can do that by his performances, by his attitude and other aspects; that’s how you convince a manager.

“It’s frustrating because we’ve seen what he can do but it’s about doing that on a consistent basis, and doing it every single day of the week.”

Elsewhere, Elliott Hewitt played the first 75 minutes as Colchester drew 0-0 at Crawley, while Freddie Veseli played the full 90 as Port Vale - who are in talks with the Blues about making the Swiss defender’s move permanent - lost 1-0 at Swindon.

Following today's games, Town, who play Charlton on Tuesday, remain second in the Championship with third-placed Middlesbrough drawing 0-0 at Blackburn to move a point behind the Blues.

Leaders Bournemouth are now four points ahead of Town having won 2-0 at Millwall.

Taylor not even in the 18 for Rotherham. I wonder if anyone will want him or Wordsworth?

Matriotts loan has sadly been disappointing this time out. Hope he doesn't go the same way as some other promising youngster who end up not making it.

Prediction for you - Wordsworth and Taylor contracts will be paid up and Nouble will return as cover up front.

I met a fairy today who granted me one wish. “I want to live forever,” I said.
“Sorry,” said the fairy, “I'm not allowed to grant wishes like that.”
“Fine,” I said, “I want to die when Paul Taylor starts another game for Ipswich.”
“You crafty ****!” said the fairy.

Noubles got no chance as cover for our strikers, Mick has said so. Perhaps he should drop down to a div 2 club on loan after Cov

goes to show what many of us always said about paul taylor , and wordsworth for that matter. I really don't think anyone will be interested in either . I agree with you Moscow blue , I think both will have their contracts paid off and shown the door.
