Defender Freddie Veseli is expected to join his loan club Port Vale on a permanent basis with his spell with the League One side having come to an end. The former Swiss U21 international is one of five Town players whose loans were up at the weekend.

Talks between Vale and the Blues regarding the 22-year-old, whose contract is up in the summer, have been ongoing since before Christmas and manager Rob Page said over the weekend that a deal may be completed today.

"His loan us up now, so on Monday we will have some news and I am confident it will be good news,” he told the Stoke Sentinel.

Veseli joined the Blues after a trial in the summer of 2013 after his release by Manchester United, having previously been with Manchester City’s youth set-up.

The right-back or centre-half made only one appearance for Town, last season’s Capital One Cup exit at Stevenage. He spent time on loan at Bury during 2013/14 and joined Vale in the summer with manager Mick McCarthy having said he had no future at Portman Road.

Meanwhile, Frank Nouble, Anthony Wordsworth, Paul Taylor and Jack Marriott are due back at Portman Road at the end of their loan spells.

Nouble, 23, says he’s keen to stay with Coventry, having scored four goals in 12 starts and three sub appearances for the Sky Blues with talks understood to be ongoing between the clubs.

“I have already said to the manager that I want to stay so it’s up to the club now,” Nouble told the Coventry Telegraph.

The striker says manager Steven Pressley was impressed with his display in Saturday's 2-0 win at Walsall: “He just said that my performance was exactly what was needed.

“I have been out the side but he told me the last two games is the Nouble we know and love here, and I said I appreciated that and that I hope we can continue 2015 in those good spirits.

“It’s always good to hear the manager speaking well of you, particularly when you haven’t been playing for a few weeks.”

Pressley added: “In the last two games Frank has given great performances in that position — not just in possession but out of possession.”

“That’s always been the great concern because we are a team that focus on how to pressurise the game, what we expect from everybody when we haven’t got the ball.

“He’s shown me that he’s more than capable of doing that and that’s very pleasing because we all know what he brings to the table when he’s in possession.”

Wordsworth and Taylor have both been with Championship Rotherham but appear unlikely to remain with the Millers.

Taylor made two brief sub appearances over the Christmas period, while Wordsworth hasn’t featured since October.

Having made a bright start to his time at the New York Stadium, the 27-year-old striker failed to find the net in 13 starts and four sub appearances and has been an increasingly peripheral figure. Wordsworth, 26, made only three starts and three sub appearances, scoring once.

Speaking before Christmas manager Mick McCarthy said the trio, who are out of contract in the summer, won’t come into his plans: “Their futures are elsewhere, the three of them, not here. They will be transferred, even if they come back they won’t be playing, they’ll go somewhere else.”

Striker Jack Marriott ended his third loan spell with Vanarama Conference Woking by netting in their 1-1 New Year’s Day draw with Eastleigh. Overall, the 20-year-old scored five times in 15 starts and five sub appearances.

He says he’ll speak to McCarthy about his immediate future with a further spell with the Cards a possibility.

"It's an option. I have a lot of adoration and love for this club, everything they've done for me, I'm always welcomed with open arms, but it's up to the boss at Ipswich,” Marriott told Get Surrey.

Speaking just before Christmas, McCarthy said it’s likely that the academy product, who is also out of contract in the summer, will go out on loan again: “Jack hadn’t been playing regularly at Woking, he’s not had the same degree of success in terms of scoring goals.

“He needs to get that, he needs to play somewhere regularly and get some goals before he even thinks about getting in my team.”

bluefeast added 13:21 - Jan 5 Wordworth is a luxury type player , ie central mid attacking player. However he is not dynamic ,weak in terms of tackling and lacks speed. We have better although he offers something. Taylor has no team ethic ,runs down blind alleys , never makes a simple pass. He looks like someone who was really poorly coached as a youngster. He has had no success at all anywhere he has played. Marriott would be down the pecking order. I so hope he gets a league 1 or 2 side and scores regularly. In a side who creates chances he will score.

Not only does he clearly not have the skill/attitude required to succeed at our current level, he would clearly be a disruptive influence to the team spirit that has got us to where we are.

Come the end of the season hes out of contract anyway. Offer WW to Colchester, Offer Taylor to Posh or anyone else who might have him, offer big Frank to Cov who I think they would take him and try and get Marriot some games at a club where he will get chances

dirtyboy added 16:58 - Jan 5 Taylor and Wordsworth will be on decent wages and will almost certainly not leave on permanent deals until the summer, so we're left with the hope that someone takes them on loan to free up some of their wages for a replacement. Until that happens, I don't think we'll see McCarthy being able to do too much with respect to bringing someone else in. Although the increased gates and additional TV exposure we've had this season may allow us a bit more freedom? Who knows?

Look at the performance yesterday full of effort and endeavour. Its also noticable how performances and team spirit has massively improved since those loan players were shipped out.

Taylor 's attitude is obviously completely wrong, and for all his so called natural ability,he fails to fit in to requirements. Can't see his career improving. Wordsworth crossed Mick when he questioned his lack of first 11 appearances, and has let himself down at Rotherham, therefore proving Mick's judgement correct. Woody has ability but his lack of commitment will see his career played in Div 1. Mick doesn't suffer fools, I would imagine all us thankful Ipswich supporters appreciate that !!!!!
