Town Without McGoldrick, Skuse and Hyam
Saturday, 17th Jan 2015 14:17

Town are without David McGoldrick, Cole Skuse and Luke Hyam for this afternoon’s game at Millwall.

McGoldrick and Hyam are both out with knee injuries sustained in the 1-0 FA Cup defeat to Southampton, while Skuse is ill.

Jay Tabb looks set to start in central midfield alongside Kevin Bru with Stephen Hunt on the left and Paul Anderson on the right.

Up front, Noel Hunt is handed his first start alongside Daryl Murphy with new signing Freddie Sears one of only six subs on the bench.

Balint Bajner is missing with Notts County understood to be close to signing the Hungarian striker on loan.

Millwall have make eight changes to the team which lost 4-0 at Bradford in the FA Cup in midweek. Former Blue Dan Harding makes his home debut, while ex-midfielder Lee Martin and one-time loan striker Ricardo Fuller are on the bench.

Meanwhile, Blues target Billy Sharp is a sub for Leeds for their game against Birmingham.

Millwall: Forde, Cummings, Nelson, Webster, Harding, Gueye, Abdou, Powell, Fabbrini, Gregory, Maierhofer. Subs: King, Shittu, Wilkinson, Martin, Woolford, McDonald, Fuller.

Town: Bialkowski, Chambers (c), Mings, Berra, Smith, Tabb, Bru, Anderson, S Hunt, N Hunt, Murphy. Subs: Crowe, Parr, Clarke, Ambrose, Sears, Stewart.

Only 6 subs Phil?

Probably the best team we could field considering the circumstance. Although I appreciate we have three out injured, I find it remarkable that we can only name 6 subs. Very few championship clubs would have a problem naming the full quota with just three out. We have an excellent chance of getting back into the top 2 today. Perhaps ME needs to realise that and allow Mick to bring in options. Would hate us to miss out on promotion because we don't have enough players to cover injuries.

Why not start sears? Sunderland are starting defoe! Just seems pointless but I might be wrong. We'll see

@jas099 - or of course it's the virus hitting more players than we think. For example, the reason Mings didn't start Wednesday night was due to the virus.

Homer - possibly, but other than the three who are out, who else is there, senior player wise, to put on the bench?

Great chance to get in the top two today after the loss of derby to forest, hopefully sears will get the chance to come on at some point and the lads will bring us back the 3 points.

Am I missing something - is Bishop still out?

I'm looking forward to seeing Noel Hunt up front. Every time he's come on, he's looked hungry for it, and dangerous.

Reckon he'll stick one in the onion bag today...

no I am not prepared to believe we cannot name a full quota of subs . this team should still be good enough however

Have to say we seem now to be picking up regular injuries/viruses - whether this will cost us at the end of the season is to be seen. Where is Bishop? he hasn't been mentioned, is he ill too? Skuse also has been ill for some time and have to say the midfield is starting to look down to the bare bones. Should also be interesting to see how we operate upfront with McG out - although he hasn't been playing particularly well he has at least tried to make things happen attacking wise which is more than a few others going by the last couple of games.
Draw for me today, we don't have a good record at the New Den and Holloway will be expecting a big response from his players after their poor FA Cup match.

What a poor state of affairs that we can't even fill the bench. There must be another body we could have on there from the U21's !!! McQueen ?? Any of ther youths. Thought Skuse trained yesterday?? Hope it doesn't cost us. Should have played 3 at back with Parr and Mings as wing backs. Tabb is nowhere near good enough to play centre mid in this league and S. Hunt is nowhere good enough in any position. This is probably the worst 11 we have started with all season. Game we should win easily. Worried now with that line up !!!!

I would've thought that Skuse travelled with the expectation he would be at least fit enough for the bench. Given that Bajner probably would've come into the subs if he was with us, I'm not surprised or even bothered we have only named 6 subs - its still a strong bench! Parr, Ambrose, Stewart and Sears could all potentially make the starting 11

Bishop is ill, Mick said earlier in the week that he wouldn't be playing.

Just seen Vaz Te has been released, could give us another striking option if the Sharp rumours don't materialise?

It's never ideal when Mick's hand is forced by injuries, but saying that I do think McGoldrick will benefit from a rest - mentally as well as physically. Murphy would, too, at some point soon.
Very pleased with the Sears signing. Should take a little of pressure off the front two.

Sharp is on the bench for Leeds today.

Forest have done us a favour beating Derby, can we make the most of it?

Vaz Te has signed for a team in Turkey.
