Kenny Set to Join Town
Saturday, 17th Jan 2015 22:21

Former Leeds, Sheffield United and Ireland keeper Paddy Kenny is set to join the Blues on loan from Bolton Wanderers, TWTD understands.

Earlier this evening manager Mick McCarthy confirmed that a deal had been agreed regarding a new keeper to come in as cover while Dean Gerken is out with a hip injury which is expected to sideline him for around a month.

Halifax-born Kenny, 36, started his career with Bradford Park Avenue, moving on to Bury and Whitby Town (loan) before he joined the Blades, initially on loan in 2002.

After eight years at Bramall Lane Kenny joined QPR and Leeds before joining Bolton, for whom he is yet to make an appearance, last summer.

In November the seven-times-capped Republic of Ireland international joined Oldham on loan, where he made four starts in a spell which ended earlier this month.

Meanwhile, we understand Balint Bajner’s switch to League One Notts County, which could be a permanent move rather than a loan, is set to be confirmed early next week.

No! He was useless three years ago, and he can't have improved. What's wrong with letting Crowe sit on the bench?

Maybe Clive Baker,Ronnie Fearon not Kenny . Just goes to show however much stick a certain player gets as an opposition player, these players will sign for anyone! Talk about thick skin!

Just cover while Gerken's unavailable, folks. Don't get your knickers in a twist. Chances are he's not gonna play - we can argue till the cows come home whether Crowe or Kenny should be on the bench but hopefully we won't need either.

It's cover for a matter of weeks while Gerks is out, that's all. Who do you think we are going to be able get on that basis? Hopefully he won't have to play, but if Bart gets injured in a tight game at Norwich with 30 minutes to go, I don't see nerves or the occasion being an issue for him. He was a pretty decent keeper in his time & if fit should be able enough at 36.
Were we to stick with Crowe & his inexperience cost us promotion, there would be outrage on here that MM hadn't brought in an experienced keeper for such a key period of the season.

I like Paddy Kenny. Won't be fazed if thrown in, tons of experience, a bit bonkers.

Good choice.
