Marriott Recalled From Woking Ahead of Colchester Switch
Monday, 19th Jan 2015 10:34

Town have confirmed that striker Jack Marriott has been recalled from his loan spell with Vanarama Conference side Woking. As reported earlier, the 20-year-old is now set to join Colchester United on loan.

Marriott will effectively be Colchester’s replacement for striker Freddie Sears, who moved to the Blues on Friday and made an impressive debut as a sub at Millwall on Saturday.

The Beverley-born frontman has spent much of the last two seasons at Woking and his latest loan deal was due to run until April 25th.

Marriott, whose Town contract is up at the end of the season, spent a short spell with League One Gillingham last season and in League Two with Carlisle earlier this campaign.

Good. He needs to test himself at a higher level and League One will be a good barometer.

He won't play for ITFC again now. Loan with a view to a permanent (free) move. Good luck, Jack.

Very smart move as he will be just up the road. Not yet convinced that he cannot make it with Town and this gives Jack his best chance ever to prove the doubters wrong. Good luck Jack and I hope it works out for you and us.

Good news. It's a step up and an excellent opportunity for him to score goals at a much higher level.

Good move for both parties if this goes through, needs to prove himself at a higher level than the conference (no disrespect to the conference)!

Hope it works out, not only for his sake and ours, but also for the Us.

Make or break move for Marriott. Perform well and he will be offered a contract, if he doesn't perform or doesn't play then....

Comments on here generally put a lot of pressure on young Jack. Whenever I've seen him I've been impressed. I'm not saying he's up to a starting place yet, or even necessarily the bench, but I hope we keep him and that he gets a chance to play first team football at league level. This seems like a really sensible move for all parties.

I wonder if Jack Marriott going on loan to Colchester was part of the deal that brought Freddie Sears to Town. Even if he does,nt make it in the Championship or Premiership with us, I,m sure he,ll follow the likes of Matt Bloomfield and Dean Bowditch in the lower leagues.
