Blues Amongst Quartet Linked With Grealish
Monday, 19th Jan 2015 14:28

Town, Wolves, Brentford and Nottingham Forest are all reported to be interested in signing Aston Villa midfielder Jack Grealish on loan.

According to the Birmingham Mail the 19-year-old Irish U21 international could move out on loan next week following Villa’s FA Cup tie against Bournemouth, although his availability may depend on manager Paul Lambert adding other players to his squad.

Solihull-born Grealish is highly-rated and is interesting the England set-up, having been capped by Ireland, for whom he qualifies through his father, at U17, U18 and U21 levels.

Grealish has made 10 sub appearances in the Premier League for Villa, in addition to two cup starts.

Last season he played alongside Town keeper Bartosz Bialkowski on loan at Notts County in League One and made 33 starts and five sub appearances, scoring five goals.

Grealish, who has been with Villa since he was six and signed a new contract until June 2018 in October, operates either as a winger or in the role between the midfield and strikers filled by Crystal Palace’s Jonny Williams during his loan spell at Portman Road earlier in the season.

Would be a great signing, as much as I like our hardworking midfield, pace and creativity is lacking, this lad would add that! some games this season I've looked at our bench and thought who are we going to bring on to stretch a tiring defence and there's been nobody, he could be that option!

Plenty of buzz around this kid in the Midlands, though haven't seen enough of him myself to know whether he would be a good fit in our team. Only a short term option anyway as Villa firmly tied him down last year.

I'd prefer Williams, he's proven and knows everyone.

Yes, this is just the sort of player that we need to bring in, he's not like anyone that we currently have in the squad at the moment, maybe other than the exception of stewart. But i haven't really seen enough of him to make a judgement. But this would be a very good signing, and along with the signing of either Billy Sharp or Chris Woods give us a strong enough squad to keep competing right at the very top for the rest of the season. Seems like he'll be a good loan signing.

Does anyone know what is happening to the young Irish midfielder who we signed earlier in the season? Think we were waiting for FIFA clearance...is that still the case?

Sounds promising but Like pazelle has mentioned, would like to see Jonny Williams back.
Not sure if he is fit to play or still inured though?

good player and as much as like joniesta he is always injury prone so grealish has an eye for a goal

This would be an excellent acquisition for the rest of the season. Seen a couple of his performances for Villa and he has been a real spark and an injection of energy in their side.
He would be wonderful for us.

I can't get to excited yet with all the competition looking to take him luckily we have still got a good team without him so what will be will be.
See all you great away supporters at Brighton for 3 more points Wed.

Did I say something worth a minus Blues1? I just pointed out that we are ahead of the other teams who (Allegedlys all round here) are in for him in terms of league position and therefore attractiveness. There are a lot of other factors, geography included but it wasn't supposed to be that in-depth a comment!

If this comes off it could be the answer we've all been asking for (a lively mid fielder with a goal or two him him), albeit only a loan deal.

The dark one, remember him?? he fell out with Grealish and his father at Villa.
Villa dodged a bullet there me thinks. Had Jordan Rhodes MkII written all over it!

Wouldnt mind if he joined, good squad player and would get some games in squad rotation considering the illness going through our midfielders at the moment.

when we are linked to potential players it doesn't normally materialize.

Could work out well. Grealish comes to us and helps us get promoted, Villa get relegated and we then get to buy him!

I thought Forest had a transfer embargo? Are they allowed to take players on loan still?

If Forrest get him it'll be under Financial Farce Play rules.

He was my first loan signing for Town on Football Manager 2015 and now it could become a reality. Fantastic player.
