Marriott Set to Join U's on Tuesday
Monday, 19th Jan 2015 16:12

Blues striker Jack Marriott’s loan to Colchester will be confirmed on Tuesday morning, we understand. Earlier today, TWTD revealed that the 20-year-old was set to join the U’s with his loan spell at Woking subsequently brought to an early end.

Marriott, who is effectively new Blues signing Freddie Sears’s replacement at the Weston Homes Community Stadium, will join the U’s on loan for the remainder of the season.

The Beverley-born striker, whose Town contract is up at the end of the season, has spent much of the last two seasons on loan with Woking and has also had spells with Gillingham and Carlisle.

Town are also set to confirm the signing of Paddy Kenny on a short-term deal in the morning.

The 36-year-old former Ireland international, who has left Bolton at the end of a four-month contract, has agreed terms until the end of the season.

Sounds like town did a two way deal for sears which involved marriott going to them for rest of season.

Maybe Tony Humes can get the best out of Marriott

........ always good to see the two Clubs helping each other as/when/if possible - looks as if this has been the case. If so - great.

Great chance for Marriott to prove himself at a higher level. Even if he doesn't get a deal with us he may well warm himself a contract at colchester

Great move for everyone involved. No reason why Col U couldn't become our feeder club. Send our boys there for first team experience and have first option on any good players they bring through. Almost last chance saloon for Jack. He needs to impress at Colchester to get a new contract. I really hope he does well!

leighOnSeaBlue not necessarily means Gerks is out for longer. Should there be another keeper injury once the bearded one returns to action, Kenny will be in place and MM won't need to bring someone else in. Could be his way of thinking.

Great chance for Marriott to prove his worth in a higher division. Hope he bangs the goals in and shows he is worth a look for our first team next season. Good luck to him.

Go for it Jack - prove yourself and make the move permanent.
Got a feeling MM would have been making another "a oop he's a smashing lad but he's not for me." statement in a few months.
Better to make a name with Col U and then come back to give folk here another Jordan Rhodes type whinging moment.
Here's wishing you well.

One thing to note is that we can't recall him and play him in the first team this season as it would be in breach of the three club rule.

This will be the proof of the pudding so to speak. Good luck Jack, grab the opportunity with both hands

This sounds like it was a sweetener in the Sears deal. Good for both parties and better for Marriott as Mick should be able to see a bit more of him.

I doubt if we'll see Marriott in an Ipswich shirt again. That's a shame; I thought he'd make it with us.

I love the way almost everyone assumes that Col U is a just a feeder club for Town. Marriott has gone. Good luck and thanks for all the fish... oh no that was Sammon.

Doesn't mean Gerks is out for more than a month, Kenny is a free agent, you can hardly offer him a months contract as a free agent. I expect Gerks to be back on a bench by the Nodge match.

Make or break for Marriot this loan, unlesss he hits the ground running he'll be off in the summer.

I hope this doesn't mean the end of Marriott at ITFC. He has shown promise but hasn't really got going. I would give him another year but make him involved in the first team because at Woking (no disrespect to them) the quality of player is nowhere near where it needs to be to help Jack with his development. The Colchester loan will do him good (I hope)
