Bajner Leaves Town For Notts County
Tuesday, 20th Jan 2015 18:49

Hungarian striker Balint Bajner has had his Town contract terminated by mutual consent and has joined League One Notts County.

The 24-year-old signed for the Blues on a Bosman following a trial in the summer having left Borussia Dortmund where he had largely played for their B side.

Bajner’s appearance from the bench in last Wednesday’s FA Cup third round replay defeat to Southampton was his sixth game for Town as a sub with his only start his 44 minutes against Fulham on the opening day of the season.

The frontman completed his move in time to feature for the Magpies at Doncaster this evening and has been named on the bench.

Meanwhile, Blues target Billy Sharp is on the bench for Leeds for this evening's home game against Championship leaders Bournemouth.

Two punts on trialists from abroad, and I am happy with a 50% return with Bru signing a new long term contract today. All the best, Balint.

To be fair, we got Bart Bialkowski for nothing so they're welcome to have Bajner! Hope he does well there. I love Billy Sharp but feel Freddie Sears is a similar kind of player. After *losing* Sammon and Bajner, I feel we'll be more likely to go and find someone big and strong in the mould of Chris Wood, he'd be a more natural replacement for Murph if he was to get injured.

Good point Michael. I had never considered that. I guess you could be right, Chris wood is more like Murphs but can he get us goals? I feel sure Billy Sharp would.

Good luck! Always gave his best and was clearly a team player. Remember how he was the first person on the pitch when Hunt (a fellow new striker and direct competition) scored the winner at Charlton? Clearly a nice guy. All the best!

Good luck Banjer!!! Think we could have at least got a nominal fee for him, but as an above poster stated, we did get Bart for free pending promotion to the premiership. Hope Billy pops up with a goal from the bench to beat Bournemouth. He'd already be aiding our promotion push before he joins us

@pessimistic

Not actually seen Wood's Championship goals record but I think it's decent. I agree Billy Sharp's a more natural goalscoring poacher though. Just can't see much physicality up front if anything happened to Murph. Hopefully we could sign both but highly doubt that'd happen!

Good luck, Balint. I'm sure this is not the last we will see of you.

I hope Notts County prepare for all their social media outlets being besieged by Hungarian fanatics like ours were!

A relatively love risk gamble which didn't pay off. Sadly didn't look like making the grade in the limited opportunities he has had. Good move for him and yet another player off the wage bill, hopefully freeing up a place for a new signing.

Good luck to him though.

Have been told by a Notts supporting friend that we agreed to this in exchange for them dropping any clauses there may have been in the Bart deal - promotion bonus etc. If true, great business.
