Dyer and Bramble Legends on the Town
Monday, 2nd Feb 2015 11:56

The Supporters Club’s second Legends on the Town event of the season takes place at the Dove Street Inn on Thursday with Kieron Dyer and Titus Bramble the stars (7.30pm, doors open 7pm).

Hosted by Simon Milton, the evening, which is in aid of the academy, will include a question and answer session with the duo, who having hung up their boots are now academy coaches and sponsors. There will also be a raffle and auction.

Tickets cost £5 and you can reserve your place by phone on 07968 876504 or by email. This season’s first Legends on the Town event with Terry Butcher raised £840 for the academy.

The Supporters Club's next On The Road social event takes place on Monday 16th February at Bury Town Football Club.

A number of first-team players will make the trip to West Suffolk for the usual mix of a question and answer session, quizzes and autographs.

The evening will be hosted by Simon Milton and again is in aid of the academy. The event is open to all fans and is free. Tickets are available as per the Legends on the Town event above.

This season’s Supporters Day takes place on Saturday 21st February when Town play Reading. Fans will be making the trip from Italy, Northern Ireland and Norway amongst other places.

A number of events are being organised including a football tournament on the Friday, a pre-match social in the Dove on the Saturday with Radio Suffolk’s Life’s a Pitch broadcasting live, Blues legends in Legends post-match and on the Sunday a chance to watch some of the academy sides.

Kieron Dyer is without doubt the most talemted player I have ever seen in a Town shirt. I'm 36 so that must mean something. Maybe not a legend but a local lad done good - very very good if it wasn't for injuries. Am proud that a international clas player developed in my hometown.

Dyer bled blue and went on to play for England including in Japan 2002. Legend, he scored with a crocked leg in the game. He would have a few tales to tell. He was central to one of my favourite twtd pieces where he wrote an article about playing for England, I think at U21 level, where he was open an honest and he talked about trying to get Baby Spices phone number. TWTD.

Mr pineapple, are we really going to have the "what constitutes a legend" argument all over again?

You clearly haven't fully grasped colloquialisms. You may not like how the word is thrown about, but that is how it is commonly used. Get over it.

poobum you are clearly an idiot. In the local sense these two are real legends. On top of that they sponsor and coach the kids at the club, putting their own money and time back into the club. The youngsters they look after may never make it but they will for ever feel special because of Dyer and Bramble who could quite easily take the money they earned and lay on a beach in the sun.

Agree with Blue Ed. These 2 are ex-players. The word "Legend" gets banded about too loosely these days.

I don't care what labels you want to give them; they are raising money for the academy so they deserve a whole heap of credit.
And as for the list of favourite players...Taricco. A very good defender and hated by other teams' fans. Brilliant. Best player I ever saw in a town shirt was Beattie, closely followed by John Wark. Oh and Thissjen and Muhren. And can't leave out Mariner. But my all-time favourite was Roger Osborne. Nowhere near the best player in the team but he worked his socks off and made the most of his opportunities to play. Actually I think Mick would have liked him. Every time I met him he came across as a down to earth, nice, modest bloke. And he gave me one of the happiest days of my life when he scored the winner in the fa cup final. Legend... Damn! How did that word sneak in???
