Kenny to Feature for U21s
Monday, 26th Jan 2015 11:50

Keeper Paddy Kenny will make his first appearance in a Town shirt when the U21s take on Cardiff City at Playford Road this afternoon (KO 1pm). Teddy Bishop, Darren Ambrose and Cameron Stewart are the other senior players involved.

Kenny, 36, joined the Blues on a contract until the end of the season last week after leaving Bolton, where he had been on a short-term contract.

Right-back Kyle Hammond will make his long-awaited return to action after the anterior cruciate knee ligament injury he suffered back in March.

Academy scholars Kundai Benyu, who travelled with the first-team squad to Brighton on Wednesday, and Monty Patterson will also be involved, while it’s understood trialist Semi Ajayi, a 21-year-old central defender from Arsenal, will also feature.

Crayford-born Ajayi, an U21 international with Nigeria, joined the Gunners from Charlton in 2013 having spent 10 years in the Addicks' youth system, signing a two-year deal.

Ajayi, who spent time on loan in non-league with Dartford in 2012, scoring one goal in three appearances, was on the bench for Arsenal's first team for their Premier League game against Hull in October but is yet to make his debut for the North Londoners.

Can we not just call it reserve team football?

Sir Bob,think you will find that majority of players have to be under 21 with only three 'overage' players allowed.
Thought perhaps that Stewart and Ambrose could have been given a bit more first team game time recently,to make more use of squad, some of whom have looked a bit out of sorts in recent 3 losses.

Seasider-would start Ambrose in preference to Tabb, S Hunt or Anderson every time. He's made 5 sub appearances in the league 2 starts in the cup I think. Has a far broader game than people who just do a lot of running around. I think Anderson has been a real disappointment in his time here & Tabb-2 goals in how many appearances? Not good enough & could well be why we miss out on automatic promotion.

Anderson and Tabb have played a big part in getting us one point off the top at the end of January. It's still not good enough for a lot of town fans. Perhaps we should be 15 points clear by now and stroll our way to promotion.

Whenever Ambrose has been on the pitch he has been calm and assured we need someone to calm things down instead of keep hoofing the ball over midfield all the time most of the time our midfield is only there for defending hence the low number of goals scored by them,
Parr is another one who always does well but really starts,,he comes on as sub at Millwall does a good job from midfield scores a quality goal and next match unused sub crazy. We need to freshen things up now and push on.

Hegansheroes, are you some sort of idiot? Anderson, for me, has been very good this season, has played a big part in our success, and Tabb has been different class. Yes, we should have gone top at Brighton, but Bournemouth 'should' have beaten Leeds, and lost. Hard work has been the reason we are where we are. Yes, it can be argued that we have been a LITTLE short on quality AT TIMES this season, but everyone in the division can and will say that. Some things just aren't good enough for some

Well said. I don't know what some Town fans actually expect. Where would we have to be in the league for them to be happy. God knows what the comments were on here when Keane and Jewel were in charge! Do fans actually think that if we had the likes of Williams then we would somehow be 10 points clear at the top.?

As good as Jonny is, I don't think he pulled too many trees up here this time around. I would rather us use Bishop, and and spend the wage money elsewhere
