Taylor Training With Blackburn
Monday, 2nd Mar 2015 11:31

Out-of-favour Town striker Paul Taylor is training with Blackburn Rovers and could join the Lancashire side on loan.

The 27-year-old hasn’t returned to the Blues since ending his loan spell at Rotherham in January with manager Mick McCarthy having told him to stay away and to find a new club.

“He’s not coming back and his agent’s been dealing with it. It’s with him and Paul. He’s not coming back, full stop,” McCarthy said in January.

Taylor, who is understood to be the club’s highest-earning player on around £10,000 a week, is out of contract at the end of the season.

The Liverpudlian joined the Blues from Peterborough in the summer of 2012 for an initial fee of £1.5 million, which could ultimately have risen to £2.5 million.

He made only nine starts and 16 sub appearances for Town, scoring one goal, and missed almost a year of football due to a toe injury.

Rovers have scope to make a couple of additions to their squad despite being under a Financial Fair Play embargo with former Town loanee Bradley Orr's contract having been terminated by mutual consent.

Orr, who was with the Blues between November 2012 and Janaury 2013, making 13 appearances, has announced his retirement from football.

Why bother with news about people who are not in the building

Don't think Blackburn's far enough away from Portman Road for McCarthy's liking! Good riddance. What an absolute waste of money.

It can't be Blackburn Rovers - probably a Sunday league pub side call Blackbun Old Boys or something? More his level I would have thought!

I'm not sure what annoys me more. Thinking about the huge sums of money both Jewell and Keane wasted, or the thought of Mick having virtually nothing to spend, despite doing considerably better than both of the previous named combined.

Karls_Dad, completely agree that its a lot of money to pay for a player who has not performed and has an attitude problem. However we did pay £1.5 million for him, so the contract is probably par for the course for that sort of fee. Cant blame Jewell for the contract, obviously we can blame him for signing the muppet in the first place!

£10,000 a week our highest earner surprises me. I thought Berra, Didzy, Murph etc would be on £15k+.

We have a good chance of promotion this season, however i'm not sure if we quite have enough to go up to the premiership. I do believe though that if we stay down we could be in a very good position for next year. Good squad which needs a few additions to really improve, and with Taylors contract up at the end of the season that extra money from wages could help towards one or two very good players.

Shame it didn't work out for Taylor, obviously has talent but the attitude cost him at ITFC, I for one hope he goes on to do well in the future.

Marcus should drive him there personally if it saves £10k a week from now until the end of the season. So if ITFC have nothing to do with him, do Blackburn have to pay his wages or do they get those free as well? Worst signing in ITFC history?

He has talent , but an attitude that would appear to be detrimental within a tight nit squad. Big shame as if he were a team player then he would offer us something that we dont really have.

How any fan could disagree that he has been a utter disaster (of his own making) is beyond me.

There must be something seriously wrong with him, it can't just be his attitude. I'd love to know what Mick exactly said to him and his agent.

He managed to make himself unpopular at Rotherham also .
MM gave him a second chance at the start of the season , but he could not comply .
Idiotically assaulting a Pub Doorman in his first week , and his scowling performance at a club Childrens Hospital visit at Christmas 2013 seem to show an inability to fit in .
I wonder why Jewell did not look at his character more carefully , the drug issue alone should have prevented the signing , ITFC s worst ever !

I have to say I don't wish him well at all. He's cost us a fortune and given us pretty much nothing, and his off the pitch conduct has been nothing short of disgraceful. Being convicted of something like assualt should be grounds for dismissal in my opinion.

spot on @jas0999 - and there lieth the problem, do we have an owner who wants us promoted anymore?

Worst signing ever? Sorry but I can't agree on that.
Chopra . . . Bullard . . . JET. PJ did try

And then . . .
Leadboots, Lee Martin . . . Priskin. Now this lot was really bad!! Thanks to the dark lord.
These were the ultimate waste of money.
