Rediscover the Lost World of Ipswich Town
Rediscover the Lost World of Ipswich Town
Monday, 2nd Mar 2015 17:04

Today sees the publication of Got, Not Got: The Lost World of Ipswich Town, an Aladdin's cave of memories and memorabilia from Portman Road’s past.

The book recalls a more innocent era of football, lingering longingly over relics from days gone by - stickers and petrol freebies, league ladders, programmes and much more - revisiting a lost football culture, treasures and pleasures that are 100 per cent Ipswich Town.

Edited by Derek Hammond and Gary Silke, who were behind the original highly-acclaimed Got, Not Got a few years back, a number of TWTD readers were amongst those to contribute their memorabilia to the new book.

If you're a Town fan brought up at any time from the arrival of Bobby Robson to the early days of the Premier League, the book will bring back memories of the heroes of your childhood - Mariner, Muhren and Mills, Holland, Beattie and Butcher - and the marvels of the Lost World of Football.

You can buy your copy here.

Phil, have you thought about writing a similar book entitled "The lost mid field of Ipswich Town"?

Is this a 'stand-alone' publication, or are there a number of spin-offs of "Got, not got" which are all slightly tweaked to 'specialise' in a particular team?

MM 2015 ITFC annual?

"I don't know who you are. I don't know what you want. If you are looking for new signings, I can tell you I don't have money. But what I do have are a very particular set of ingrained methods, methods I have acquired over a very long career. Methods that make me a nightmare for people who like the ball played on the ground. If you let my Tabby go now, that'll be the end of it. I will not just look for a point against poor opposition, I will not pursue mediocre loan signings. But if you don't, I will look for him, I will find him, and I will play him".

More than a slight tweak of the original, Ipswich memorabilia throughout, same sort of themes as the earlier book.

@ uefacup81 - the original book was "Got, Not Got: The A-Z of Lost Football Culture, Treasures and Pleasures". Other club versions include Derby, Leicester & Coventry.

Tabby still getting barbed comments even on this thread. Ok he is not going to breeze past opponents a la Bishop but he does not just hoof the ball any old where either. He has alot more craft than that. His corners were poor at Norwich though.

Never judge a book by its cover but I'll get one! wrong kit on the front though. the 84/86 kit had a blue v neck rather than white.
