Bru Out But Bishop Back
Friday, 6th Mar 2015 14:13

Teddy Bishop is fit again after his ankle injury but Kevin Bru has been ruled out of Saturday’s home game against Brentford with a knee injury.

“One out, one in,” manager Mick McCarthy said when quizzed on the injury situation. “Kevin Bru twisted his knee on Wednesday night, which was actually a surprise when he limped off the bus when we got back from Leeds at half-past three.

“He’s missing, but Teddy Bishop’s fit, but Ted’s been out for nine days. He trained yesterday and he’s trained for us today and he’s good for the squad.

“It’s good to have him back. It’s strange that we’ve done really well avoiding injuries but we’ve had a long injury list of late. I need to get one back if Kevin’s going to be out and if we’re getting Bish back that’s great.”

Stephen Hunt, Darren Ambrose (both hamstring), Noel Hunt and Luke Hyam (both knee) remain sidelined.

McCarthy says striker David McGoldrick, who could be back for next week’s game at Middlesbrough, is making progress as he recovers from his thigh injury.

“He was out on the grass yesterday doing some work and he’s been out today,” he added. “He’s looking a bit happier, smilier. That’s what happens when you get off that treatment table. It’s looking more optimistic.”

It doesn't matter if he's playing or not if he's going to play on the right as well as chambers.

The team will probably end up being:
Bart
Chambers Smith Berra Mings
Bishop Skuse Chaplow Tabb
Varney Murphy

Start Sears, Bishop and Murphy. Now there's a decent front 3 with Bish just behind.

let's get a nice balanced defense finally of Parr, Chambers, Berra, Mings.
Midfield 3 of Bishop, Skuse & Chaplow (the full backs can attack the wings)
Front 3 of Sears, Murphy, Wood (Sears just behind Murphy & Wood)

In goal don't care whether Bart or Gerk

Shame for Bru but pleased that Bishop is fit. Let's have three strikers please and a midfield that will provide the service they need.

Waste of time commenting on what team to play tomorrow we all know it will be Bart in goal (getting sloppy) CHAMBERS at right back (should be centre back) SMITH centre back (should have been dropped 3 weeks ago) TABB and ANDERSON midfield (shouldn't been released 3 weeks ago)......yawn boring mick

So I've been reading these posts all season and decided I'd register and have my say...

Like you all, I love the town and am frustrated by the fact we could be top and cruising... but so could anyone in this league? Most of you on here have said Derby will win the league, they've had 2 losses back to back but do you see their team being slated and asking for the manager to be sacked? The answer is no...

Everyone has got an opinion in football, but Mick has done an amazing job thus far on the shoestring let's not forget...

11 games to go, we'd all have taken top 6 start of the season & if (dare I say it) losing to the scum twice means we will go up - then I might, with a wince just take it...

Let's go tomorrow, support the 11 who are in the team & not get on their backs - I will bet any of you they are as nervous as the fans are at the moment...

No ones said mick should be sacked we just feel he needs a plan B we are just so predictable now and playing people in wrong positions certainly don't help! We're at home tomorrow let's go for it with an attacking team and the right players in the right positions AND in form!.... what have we got to lose?

Well said Backtheblues. When we hit a poor run of form earlier in the season, the posts were full of armchair critics thinking they knew Mick's job better than him, and some even calling for him to go. The results turned our way again and suddenly the booooers had vanished or were singing Mick's praises and talking of a top 2 finish as if it was a certainty. Now they're back again and slating Mick and the player and full of doom and gloom. No neutral gave us a shout of a top 6 at the start of the season. Mick and the players are doing their best and doing us proud on limited funds and a list of injuries. Mick deserves our support and gratitude. Lets get behind the boys tomorrow and show the top 6 we arent out of the race yet!

Cannot see us playing a front three
Sears game is all about pace and getting behind the defenders so he will not play "behind" wood and Murph. The third of a front three has to be some one who can drop into midfield, thats why Hunt was so good in that position.
