Hunt, Bishop and Wood Start for U21s
Monday, 9th Mar 2015 13:00

Stephen Hunt, Chris Wood and Teddy Bishop are amongst the starters for the U21s in this afternoon’s game against Colchester United at Playford Road (KO 1pm). The U’s include on-loan Town striker Jack Marriott and ex-Blues midfielder Byron Lawrence.

Hunt is on the way back from the hamstring injury which has sidelined him in recent weeks, while Bishop is working on his fitness having been out with an ankle problem. Similarly, Wood was out with an ankle injury shortly before joining the Blues on loan from Leicester.

Town once again include West Brom defender Reiss Greenidge, as they did in the 1-0 defeat at Brentford a fortnight ago and in the 1-1 draw at QPR last week.

The 18-year-old is a 6ft 5in tall centre-half or left-back who recently spent four months on loan at Port Vale with a view to making a permanent switch but was unable to break into their first team.

U21s: Crowe, Hammond, Hunt, Bishop, Greenidge, Clarke, Stewart, Benyu, Wood, Connolly, Henshall. Subs: McDermid, Wyatt, Guldbrandsen, Patterson, McQueen.

He will ,i bet Marriott scores a couple .Wood wont score ,he has no movement ,looks like a very odd signing to me.

What about McGoldrick? Does he still play for us?

Kirbmeister added 13:41 - Mar 9
PutneyBlue - yes McGoldrick does still play but he is injured. I know its a thigh problem but i dont think a lot on here realise how serious his knee injury was last season. They just use his injury to have a dig that he is 'not showing the right attitude' and all that crap.

We don't seem to be getting progress reports on McGoldrick. How long does a thigh injury take to heal?
Has there been a bust up with MM or a simple case that his head was turned by Leicesters offer. When he's played this season he has lacked enthusiasm &/or interest.
Update please MM!!

Henshall, Stewart and Connolly? 3 wingers all starting. Anyone know what formation are they being played in?

Two things here:

1. Why have we been playing donkey Wood when
a. He is not fit and
b. he is sh!te

2. Surely this does not mean the imminent return of Hunt? Please no, give me Tabb anyday. Let Hunt stay and nurse his brother, prefereably in Ireland when there is a ferry strike on and volcanic clouds in the air...

My prediction is a bust up with mccarthy. I said something was up since the start of the year and couldn't put my finger on it. Mccarthy has confirmed he lied about the injury but if he can fib about that he can fib about anything.

Something has happened with mcgoldrick and mccarthy and I bet McCarthy is trying to sort it out but mcgoldrick is not having any of it.

You wouldn't want to make it public that a player that you turned down £8m for was throwing his dummy out.

We have to give wood a chance but signs are not great.

McGoldrick is targetting a return for the Boro match.

Or maybe McG is just injured?
Why does it need to be more sinister than that?

What happens on the training ground stays on the training ground , i bet hes simply injured ,but Wood is no replacement is he ,he looked terrible away at leeds ,a going through the motions unfit bloke who gave the ball away or failed to hold it up ,he lacks match sharpness ,so why did we sign him. Mistake....

Wood is a good player when he's on his game, but he looks at least a stone overweight, and nowhere near fit enough.

2-0. Wood and Stewart scored. Stewart could've scored another 11 and wouldn't get into Mick's first team plans though.

Fantastic , lets hope Stewart does make the bench on Saturday ,pace is a weapon we lack ,especially last 15 mins if needed. He has a goal in him. I wonder if MM would like Richie of Bournemouth in his side ,wide attacking flair ,bit of pace and goals ,or if we had him would he be kept out of the side by more defensive industrious types.

If McGoldrick is targeting a return against borough, he can't be anywhere near a return as surely he would need some game time as he's been out so long, today's game against Colchester would have been ideal wouldn't it?

Think you'll all find the fact is that mcgoldrick is simply injured. Tho did hear something the other day that his son is seriously I'll at no and so he spending his time with him. But that just a rumour to my knowledge

The way McG was playing and this somewhat low key to his injury reminds me of someone with a depressive illness and trying to play through? Just a thought
