Stewart Joins Barnsley on Loan
Saturday, 21st Mar 2015 14:04

Town have announced that winger Cameron Stewart has joined League One Barnsley on loan for the remainder of the season.

The 23-year-old joined the Blues on a Bosman free transfer after leaving Hull City in the summer.

However, having suffered a broken jaw in pre-season, has failed to break into the Town side, making only two FA Cup appearances.

Disappointing for him that he has never broken in to our team, hopefully he can get some games and come back next season.

if he plays no better than he does for our under 21s - cant see him getting much game time

I don't get it 8 to play already weakened side with injuries so we loan a player out if tabb or mings or another wide players will we be able to find 18 players, at this stage if your going to ship out is there going to be someone in

If he doesn't perform in training or in the under 21's then he doesn't deserve to be given a chance. Just imagine someone where you work gets opportunities that you don't get even though they are lazy. Just think of our footballers that are picked on merit and support them wholeheartedly.

@bluesince84, McCarthy signed him, therefore he obviously hasn't a problem with playing them, IF they step up to the plate. Up to date, the lad obviously hasn't!!!!
He was signed on a free, by now surely people know the crack, McCarthy gives them a fresh challenge, if they prove themselves they stay and play, if not, cheerio.

Hasn't been good enough in training or u21 matches to break into the first team. Going on loan, presumably with 24 hour recall, seems a reasonable course of action so. Connolly appears to be ahead of him in Mick's eyes, while Tabb & Anderson certainly are, not to mention Jonny Parr. Frees up some % of wages. No big deal shocker here.

I assume all of Stewart's ardent advocates on here follow his training sessions day in day out? We don't see enough of what happens on the training pitch to make accurate assertions on whether or not he deserves a place.

I assume we will be signing players then? We don't exactly have a large squad do we. Midfield options limited.

Wasn't that bothered when we signed him to begin with tbh..Mick has signed some absolute turkeys in his 2 and a half years though.

Swapping JET for Anderson is another poor decision that springs to mind..Anderson's scored what, maybe 5 or 6 compared to JET's 35-40 since going the other way.

I just don't think Mick's capable of handling "flair" players.

Clearly not impressing the boss. Games will do him good at that level.

Thought he wasn't good enough when we signed him, you just have to watch some of the Leeds games he was on loan at last season to justify this...whether we'll see him start a game for us is probably unlikely knowing what Mick is like with players in his position and his form since Hull let him go!

He needs some games, so a good move for me

Anyone who was at Watford cant fail to have been impressed with Reg Varney wide right for us. Excellent in the air, strong, good touch, quick, drove forward with the ball to attack their defence, got a good shot away AND tackled back to break up their attacks. He can make that position his own if he stays.

Good move, get games into him and have him fit if needed for playoffs! He is not going to be match fit sitting on bench/stands.
