Team ITFC Cyclist's Signed Shirts Up for Auction
Saturday, 4th Apr 2015 09:50

You may have seen T-shirts bearing the legend ‘We Don’t Wear Yellow’ in and around Portman Road in recent weeks, now two signed by the first team squad are up for auction to raise money for Prostate Cancer UK and the Town Academy.

Designer Tim Hodgson is one of the 50 cyclists who will be part of Team ITFC at the annual London to Amsterdam Challenge in June and the shirts are part of his fundraising efforts, as he tells us.

On June 12th and 13th I'm fundraising for Prostate Cancer UK and the ITFC Academy by taking part in the London to Amsterdam Challenge, cycling 150 miles in 48 hours.

I was keen to get involved in the ride as over 20 years ago my Dad was diagnosed with prostate cancer. Thankfully he’s now fully rehabilitated, luckily he knew the signs to look for and had an early diagnosis. I wanted to do something to help raise awareness and funds to help tackle this disease.

The idea for the T-shirts - which are sponsored by TWTD and The Greyhound - came from a desire to link the two sports together, cycling and football but more specifically ITFC.

In cycling the ultimate symbol of success is the Tour de France’s yellow jersey. Obviously being Town fans the thought of wearing yellow is a complete anathema, in fact I can only really enjoy supporting Brazil when they’re in their away colours. So I came up with the line ‘We Don’t Wear Yellow’ (apologies to Stowmarket Cycling Club).

Simon Milton, who is also taking part in the Challenge along with Alan Lee and former skippers Terry Butcher and Matt Holland, was kind enough to arrange for the first team squad to sign a couple of T-shirts.

A blue shirt is being auctioned here, while an orange one is available here. The auctions for these unique items of Town memorabilia end on Monday 6th April.

The T-shirts are also available unsigned for £15 at The Greyhound. Alternatively, you can donate directly to my Just Giving page.
