McGoldrick and Ambrose Back in Training
Tuesday, 31st Mar 2015 15:30

Striker David McGoldrick and midfielder Darren Ambrose are back in training ahead of Good Friday’s crucial home game against current Championship leaders AFC Bournemouth.

McGoldrick, a one-time Cherries loanee, has been out of action since the Rotherham game at the beginning of February with a troublesome thigh problem, while Ambrose suffered a hamstring injury in mid-January.

“We have got a few bodies back now,” Blues boss Mick McCarthy told the club site.

“Didz was back out on the training field yesterday and so was Darren Ambrose, so that’s obviously good news, although we have to be careful with them.

“We have a few still out though. Jonny Parr is struggling with a hamstring injury and Kevin Bru pulled up in the Watford game with a sore calf. We will have to see how they are over the next few days.”

Left-back Tyrone Mings is definitely out of the Bournemouth match - which kicks-off at 5.15pm and is live on Sky - and the trip to Huddersfield on Easter Monday as he is suspended for two games having reached 10 bookings.

Meanwhile, Bournemouth boss Eddie Howe says he doesn’t expect top scorer Callum Wilson, who was pulled out of the England U21 squad due to injury, to be fit for Friday’s visit to Portman Road.

With a bit of luck Didz will at least be fit enough for one half and Joniesta will be fit enough for the other half. Put one of them just behind the strikers and then replace with the other one for the second half. Simples!!

I bet MM & TC have got a better plan.
That's why they're in their jobs and I am in mine.
Doh!!!

Would love to see McGoldrick back as soon as possible. Ambrose from the bench would be alright as well. Come on lads, we need you back.

More porkies from the management. I thought we were told weeks ago that didz was back in training. Slap me down if you like but as I said on here a few weeks ago. He'll not play for town again. Something is not right and we the fans are not being told what it is.

Big game ,big decisions ,major tactics needed to press bournemouth back up the pitch and get them defending. Im not a great lover of Eddie Howe , however he is proving an incredibly shrew manager on the tactical front. We need to score before them in order for a real opportunity to present itself.£ points puts the pressure on those above

A blind man could see there were issues with McGoldrick when he has been playing this season. If anyone else noticed what seemed to be a sulky attitude when playing for us would of noticed the elation on his face whilst playing for Republic of Ireland .The difference was huge as was his performance. I suspect the Leicester issue runs deeper, frankly we were mad to turn down that money as we would not get the same offers again. Yes it showed ambition ,but look what it seemed of created.A talented player with low motivation is worse that an average player with great motivation . Time may well tell ,but i would be surprised if we see him in a town shirt again. As an aside he's not done any interviews , been seen at the ground on match days etc etc etc. Something more to this….

Hope you conspiracy theorists are completely wrong.

Don't think MM would even mention him ahead of a big game like this if there was a chance that something was untoward. So I choose to think he's just had a bad injury, maybe been a bit down given that it's now two years running when he has been out for a long spell.

@rgp1 mentioned above that the fans are not being told the truth. Can't help wondering what that would do if the conspiracy theory is correct. Certainly wouldn't be good for the morale of the team and would lead to further howls of criticism from sections of the fans who of course would deal with things differently than MM.

Back in "training"!!! Ffs thus was supposed to be a thigh strain he had. How many weeks is it now, for what essentially is a muscle injury.

Even If the news is true can't see DM playing at all on Friday. Hope I'm wrong but if I am he'll play no more than the last 15-20 minutes and even then it could be a risk. He has been out a long time and will be nowhere near match fit which is a great pity for us. Parr is a blow as well if declared unfit but if we go 4-3-3 then it could be a similar line up to the Watford game with Fryers for Mings and hoping that Bru is fit. Massive game on Friday so we need to be at our best if we are to get anything.

Bluefeast. Ive been saying this for months on here about Didzy. I do know people that work on a daily basis with the players, and i know that he is not focused on Town. As you say it shows in his performances. I can sympathise with him. His one big chance if PL was denied him, of course he has a right to be pissed off. Now players are aead of him in the team. There is absolutely no denying he is one of our most gifted players, bug if his heart is no longer in it, it is meaningless.

Id be interested to know what his real injury is , if we are to believe it is not the original ACL injury, because thigh strains do not take this long to recover.

No conspiracy, is just a thigh injury which has been difficult to shake off. He was back in training a few weeks back but, as was reported then, he felt it and was given further time to rest. Nothing to do with the medial knee ligament problem - not ACL - from last season. Just people making stuff up.

Phil. Has he played any ressie games yet? Eight weeks for a thigh strain is close to double the usual healing time for a muscular injury. So not sure why he's struggling so much.

Sorry Phil but we have some simpletons on here. If a player is injured he is injured. Some take longer than others. Conspiracy theories my arse.

On the flip side no Wilson is good for us - They may have to play Kenwyne Jones
Hope JW and Zaki play
Win this and confidence be pumping through us all

I don't think it was as minor as a strain. Mick admitted he deliberately underplayed it initially, knowing he was going to be out for five or six weeks, as he was trying to sign Varney and Wood and didn't want to appear desperate for strikers.

He was due back around the time of the Boro game but suffered a minor setback and wasn't ready for the two before the break. All pretty run of the mill stuff.

Hopeful that it's not a cloak and dagger situation, but if it is the case, then without doubt McCarthy will move him on.
At the time when offer for McGoldrick was made, the vast majority on forum praised the owner and management for standing firm, obviously with hindsight maybe we should of taken the money and run, considering the players below par performances and injuries.
Murphy by all accounts has over shadowed him, and carried the team in terms of goals, but as already mentioned, hindsight is a wonderful thing!
If he returns to the fold, for me, it will feel like another great addition to squad, but if not so be it, the team has moved on in terms of personnel......like the saying goes, time waits for no man!

Returning players just what needed at this crucial time.
Being a holiday and with early evening kick off will be dis- appointed if less than 25000 (Bournemouths ground doesn't even hold half of that) for this very important game which could truly be called a six pointer.
So get off your arses and get down to Portman Road and be the twelfth man to burst Eddies bubble.Hope we get a good ref who doesn't fall for diving as Howes side has won more pens than any other team in Championship I believe.

Bournmouth going to play 451 , 2 holding midfield players and 3 supporting the lone striker. there front 4 are all very good and in Arter and co they have real skill. I was at the away fixture and i have no idea how we got a point. Big game needs cool heads ,let hope for a TV win as opposed to the blanket flat games we've had thus far.COYB

Thank you Phil. I find it all very frustrating ( but not as much as the player Im sure!).

I would like nothing more than to have the David MCGoldrick of old back in the side, but the longer this goes on the more I fear we will have seen his best days in a Town shirt.

with a fully fit squad , I would say we now have one of the best in the championship, if we can get mcgoldrick fit and focused playing alongside Williams , sears, murphy and bishop , and fryers is as good as he was as a youth player at spurs then it could be happy days

Got to be good news for the run in!! we appear to have all bodies in working condition and the squad looks huge to a few weeks ago when we were running on air, come on you blues let's give Bournemouth(esp Mr Howe) eff all to take home!, with what should be near to a full house let's get the noise going before they even get on the park and create the atmosphere to inspire our boys.
