Scowcroft Replaces Wright at Legends on the Town
Tuesday, 7th Apr 2015 22:49

Former striker James Scowcroft has replaced David Wright as the guest at the Supporters Club’s third Legends on the Town event of the season at the Dove Street Inn on Friday (7.30pm, doors open 7pm).

Wright, who like Scowcroft now coaches at the academy, will be travelling to Huddersfield with the U16s squad on Friday ahead of their match on Saturday.

In addition to his role at Playford Road, Scowcroft, who was Town’s Player of the Year in the 1999/00 promotion season, also now works in the media.

Hosted by Simon Milton, the evening, which is in aid of the academy, will include a question and answer session, as well as a raffle and auction.

A few tickets are still available for £5 each. You can reserve your place by phone on 07968 876504 or by email.

Meanwhile, former striker Ian Marshall is holding a taster session for his new football and education project, the Ian Marshall Football Academy, at Greshams Sports and Social Club on Thursday from 11am, further details here.

Has Wright's legendary status been revoked?

Wright punt out on to Scowcroft's head on the wing (5x a game)
Scowcroft soft header into arms of opposing keeper (2x a game)

Funny what sticks in the memory. Found it even funnier when Scowcroft was not in the side and Richard Wright still kept kicking the ball to where Scowie would normally be only to see an (e.g.) Reuser getting out jumped every time
