U18s End Season With Win at Colchester Saturday, 18th Apr 2015 14:34 by James Ager Town's U18s completed their league season with a 2-1 win at Colchester United on Saturday morning thanks to goals from Cemal Ramadan (pictured) and Ben Morris. Ramadan opened the scoring on 16 minutes when he latched onto a bouncing ball over the top and lobbed it over the advancing keeper Danny Boness. Sam Ford and Harry Daly both saw efforts either blocked by the U's defence or well saved by Boness as Town kept up the early pressure. However, the young Blues weren't able to extend their lead before the break and the hosts equalised three minutes after the restart. Diaz Wright's corner from the right was flicked on and an unmarked Decarrey Sheriff slid in to tuck the ball past Sam McDermid. Moments later Sheriff cut in from the right and curled a fantastic effort past McDermid which crashed back of the crossbar before being cleared to safety. As the hour mark approached, McDermid made a fine low save to deny Wright as the home side continued to use the strong wind to their advantage. After withstanding the second half onslaught, Town went on to grab a late winner through Ben Morris with six minutes remaining. Ford's close-range lob rebounded off the bar and sub Morris headed in at the far post to secure the three points. The game was certainly affected by the wind and after playing some good attacking football in the first half, Town were forced to defend for much of the second half. Daly wasn't afraid to get forward from left-back and Ford was a constant threat to the home defence. The young Blues end their season in third in the Professional Development League Two and miss out on a place in the end of season play-offs. U18s: McDermid, Emmanuel, Daly, Smith, Fowler, Woolfenden, Jones (Morris 81), Blanchfield, Ford, Maynard, Ramadan (Downes 87). Unused: Hayes, Meldrum, Dozzell.
