Blues and Rams Linked With Owls Defender
Saturday, 25th Apr 2015 09:48

Town and Derby County are reported to be keeping tabs on Sheffield Wednesday defender Lewis Buxton.

According to the Mirror the two clubs are eyeing the 31-year-old, who is out of contract in the summer.

Buxton, who is 6ft 1in tall, started his career Portsmouth and spent loan spells with Exeter and Bournemouth before moving on to Stoke City in 2004.

The Newport, Isle of Wight-born right-back or centre-half joined the Owls initially on loan in 2008 before signing permanently a year later.

Meanwhile, Town owner Marcus Evans’s wealth has risen by £65 millon to £765 million, according to this year’s Sunday Times Rich List. Other estimates have previously put Evans’s wealth in the billions.

Too soon to be concrete considering we don't even know what division we will be playing in but I expect a right back as one of our priorities in the summer.

If any truth in link, cannot see an ageing defender from a mid table championship team cutting the mustard, irrespective if whether we end up in the Premier or Championship next season.

Could be a good signing, part of one of the best defences in the league, their current position means nothing regards to his quality. I remember a couple of our recent centre backs going to premier teams when we we're fighting relegation and there still there so league position means nothing

Seems quite credible to me, exactly the sort of player Mick signs. Experienced, a consistent performer, can play in a number of positions and wouldn't cost the earth. Could well be a useful signing if we get him.

Get him in. Have a look at Harry's article before the Sheffield Wednesday game for a glowing recommendation

Suffolk n Good, very good point
Very simplistic just to look at the team they play for, and the same re: age...
Always makes me a little disappointed and embarrassed when I see GMac playing week in and week out in the Prem, remembering the shameful pelters our 'fans' used to give him

Buxton is in Derbyshire so he'll go there.
