Murphy in PFA Team of the Year
Sunday, 26th Apr 2015 15:10

Town’s 25-goal top scorer Daryl Murphy has been named in the PFA Sky Bet Championship Team of the Year.

Murphy, named Town’s Player of the Year earlier in the month, became the first Blues player to net 25 league goals in a season since Ray Crawford in the 1962/63 campaign when he scored the opener in yesterday's 2-1 victory over Nottingham Forest.

The Team of the Year, which is voted for by their fellow players, also includes ex-Town skipper Grant Leadbitter, now with Middlesbrough, and one-time academy schoolboy Richard Keogh, currently with Derby.

PFA Sky Bet Championship Team of the Year: Keiren Westwood (Sheffield Wednesday), Russell Martin (Norwich), Richard Keogh (Derby County), George Friend (Middlesbrough), Simon Francis (Bournemouth), Matt Ritchie (Bournemouth), Grant Leadbitter (Middlesbrough), Bakary Sako (Wolves), Alex Pritchard (Brentford), Daryl Murphy (Ipswich), Troy Deeney (Watford).

Good in regards to Murphy. Berra should be in the team, whilst Mings is rated at £10M.

So no place for Bamford, the supposed player of the year...
Well done Murph!! Very well deserved

Jas0999 Mings guilty of at least 4 badly misplaced passes yesterday playing the ball forward and his crosses were not good either. But still a key part of a solid looking defence once more. We miss Cresswells curling deliveries - eg his lovely goal direct from a free kick yesterday for the Hammers

Bamford also cheats ,other players hate that ,which will be why he is missing. For me Prichard on loan from Tottenham with Brentford has been the best player ,basically he is a super fit Jonny Williams with a few more goals in him. If we were to be promoted 4 million will secure him great young player….

What about Col Skuse,a real unsung hero. It's a lazy researched line up,there are better players than half of them that were in struggling teams

So Bamford cheats, well I would like to see him cheating for us next season, and Skuse? I suppose you would have included Tabb as well

Is Keogh a former Ipswich junior? just that the name seems familiar from some years ago. Leadbitter of course had time at Town so that could possibly be three with Town connection. Agree that Berra should certainly have been there.

So who picks this team then? Wheres Berra? I'm sure I've heard Keogh's name mentioned at Town before but....Nah i'm only joking. Made me laugh @Shedboy. Some people don't always read the full article before posting.
What I wanted to add was that it is interesting that these are the 11 players that other players have picked as being the top 11 and yet Bamford was not included. What does that say about Bamford as his football league award? Well done to Murph too. He has shown hard work and dedication from the day he first arrived here on loan (scored too as I remember) and has always wanted to do well for the team. He deserves this recognition from players, pundits and supporters. Would love a couple of play off hat tricks to surpass 30....we can dream! COYB!

Bamford is only on loan from Chelsea;so don't know if that excludes him from being eligible.
Are there any loanees in the 11 ?
