Chambo: TV Could Make Task Tougher
Friday, 1st May 2015 06:00

Captain Luke Chambers believes the fact that Saturday’s game at Blackburn is live on Sky Sports could make Town’s task to qualify for the play-offs even more difficult.

He explained: “If there were some Blackburn boys thinking it might be their last game for the club or thinking about their holidays, the fact that it’s live on the telly means they are going to have to perform and it’s going to make it a little bit tougher for us probably.

“But the very fact that it’s on the box shows how far we have come as a team and as a club. We’ve had a lot of TV games this season, compared to last, and we’re involved in something that could turn out to be a massive success for the club.”

Chambers believes the experience within the Town ranks will stand them in good stead and added: “We’re lucky that we have an experienced team, lads of a good age who have probably been involved in stuff like this before, and that can only help the young boys in the side who are experiencing play-off situations for the first time.

“We all seem very, very focused and there hasn’t been any talk about who we might face in the play-offs or the different scenarios, what we need to do and what about if we lose.

“It’s just been a case of focusing fully on the game and going about it the way we have gone about the other 45 we have played so far.”

Asked what the atmosphere would be like in the Town dressing room prior to heading down the Ewood Park tunnel Chambers said: “It can be loud and quiet. There are times when the boys are trying to gee each other up, which we will do, but there will be times when they will be reflecting and getting ready to go to work.

“As soon as we get the signal from the referee to leave the dressing room I’ll just say ‘Come on boys, time to go’. We’ll have the huddle on the pitch and I’ll give the boys an opportunity to say anything they want to say. Then I’ll say what I think is appropriate before we get going.

“The lads have been together long enough now and I think most of them have played enough games, especially this season, to know their jobs inside out. If we perform to our strengths, like we have done over the last four or five weeks, we’ll be where we want to be.

“The younger lads, like Tyrone and Bish will be fine. Nothing is going to put Tyrone off his stride and Bish, for me, is the best young player in the league.

“The majority of occasions when Bish has been involved the team has been fairly successful so I think that is credit to his character and his ability moving forward. If he continues to progress the way he has done this season I really think he could end up anywhere.”

Not worth fist pumping till we have won something.. not counting any eggs in the onion bag, as it's a funny old game of two halves. As we know you have to take each pain as it comes...

Runningout,or each game as it comes.
About 10 of us will be watching round a friends house but one wont be there.
Says that when he goes to this friends place to watch Sky,usually don't get very good result.
Lucky I am not superstitious as admit considering season we have had,not always reflected in the Sky games.
Will be disappointed if Tabb is preferred to Bru though.
