15,500 Tickets Sold for Home Play-Off Derby
Monday, 4th May 2015 20:29

Town have sold 15,500 tickets for Saturday’s Championship play-off semi-final first leg against Norwich City at Portman Road (Sky Sports 1 midday, KO 12.15pm).

Tickets went on sale to Platinum and Gold Card holders on Sunday at 8am, while season ticket holders were able to secure their seats from this morning with their seats reserved until Wednesday at 8am.

Silver Card holders can get their tickets from Tuesday at 8am before seats go on general sale from Wednesday at 8am.

Fans can purchase their tickets in person at Planet Blue but the club encourage supporters to buy their tickets online from ITFC Direct. Full ticketing details for the home and away legs can be found on the club site.

Manager Mick McCarthy expects most impartial observers will view the Canaries as favourites having done the double over the Blues during the regular season.

"They have beaten us twice, but I don’t think it does us any harm to be honest," he told talkSPORT.

"They have been outstanding since [manager Alex Neil] came in and they beat us there 2-0, but we didn't really play against them.

"I would have thought most people, innocent observers who have no vested interest in the game, will be thinking it is going to be Norwich [who win], so happy days.

"Norwich have got a terrific squad. We have got a squad that has been put together for next to nothing. We have spent £110,000 - £10,000 on Tyrone Mings and £100,000 on Freddie Sears - but it is brilliant.

"We have got a great squad of lads. They are a real joy to work with, they all fancy it, they all want it, and every week they give everything."

Hate to bring any negativity to the party but feel that the club have scored a huge P.R. own goal with the ticket pricing, with the scummers home leg at £25 for all, especially in light of the recent E.A.D.T. headline regarding M. Evans'personal worth increasing £65 million to £765 million!! They are also opening one of their stands to screen the first leg, priced at £5 to include a free pie and pint. I'm certain that tickets at £20/25 would guarantee a full house and even more volume

While I always want cheap tickets what is the point for this one being cheap for the club ? we're in debt ( Norwich have £60 mill parachute payments and are not in debt ) and we've already sold 15,500. Coupled with them selling 2000 , that's 12,000 left to the rest. Pretty certain this will easily sell out!

No excuse for Evans not to invest next season, regardless of what league we are in. Tickets in the stand I sit are mysteriously up by two pounds per ticket than I have seen all season, and I'm a season ticket holder! I hope we sell out. I hope Evans reinvests the extra cash.

I'm sorry but how is this going to be anything but a sell out? Of course I'd rather pay less but I'd never resent paying it to see this game.

My point isn't whether the game will sell out or not but to do with creating good relations between the club and community...once upon a time ,long ago, there was a sport which the working class (even the unemployed ones) could afford to watch on a regular basis without a trip to Wonga, Cash Converters first (It used to be a lot more fun/noisier then too)...............congrats to all out there that can afford to pay but maybe consider them that can't too! I think Mr. E could probably cover the difference but best I don't get too far into that particular can of corporate worms .Long Live F.C St Pauli....we have nothing to lose but our chains!?!? Comrades

That is about right for those who can get them at the moment. Expect a total sell out by weds/thurs when they go on general sale. No Town fan will want to miss this one. There are of course some who will be unable to attend, but I am sure all will sell.

It'll be embarrassing for all of us if we can't sell out for this one..

Well done Town, a bonus game yet they try it on with a Grade A price...

Jesney - I assume you are talking tongue in cheek? I assume you know that tickets don't go on general sale until Wednesday?

If we cant sell out for this one, we don't deserve anything. I think we will. If anyone thinks this is anything less than a grade A game, I'm not quite sure what they expect. We need to cash in on games like this. £34 is a bargain when Sky is £70/month to watch it on the box. Affordability is more down to prioritisation of spending for most. We need everyone behind us Saturday, and now is not the time to bemoan the club. PS ME's wealth is irrespective, he has earn't it, and can invest it how he chooses. I actually am very impressed with the way the club is currently run, and should we get some cash, happy days!

If wen dont sell out then it just says the ground is too big for us, that's all. even if we get 26,000 thats a great number for ITFC, 4,000 more than the ground could even hold 15 years ago!

I was in the record crowd of 38,010 against Leeds in the FA cup in 1975 and you could barely move. In those days in was the sport of the working man, the number of tickets sold in the 70's was a reflection on the type of football we played, attractive, attacking, those were indeed the days and I hope they return soon!!

@nthstd

Just like to point out that not every non-regular who has a ticket for this game is a 'fair weather fan'. I was a season ticket holder for 12 years but had to give it up this year for work reasons and unfortunately haven't been able to buy a ST for next season either.
I go as and when I have the time/money, and always endeavour to make it on the big occasions like this.
Hopefully I'll be in a position to become a ST holder again season after next (or perhaps a half ST holder next season), but unfortunately not everybody can.

Phil.
Just wonder if someone (you?) could explain the FFP-rules. People say Evans should invest more, but from what I understand when reading about it, he is not allowed to invest more than he does in the team under the rules. The club can only spend the amount of money it makes, so the extra money the club gets from the tickets and tv-deal in the play-off can go into investing in the team next season, but Evans can't invest more. Or..?
Does anybody know?
