As recently reported Town have confirmed that their scouts are looking to South America for possible summer signings. Town chief scout Colin Suggett has revealed that Scandinavian scout Simon Hunt is currently in Argentina looking for the new Mauricio Taricco or Sixto Peralta.

Suggestt said of Hunt's trip: "He has already taken in seven games in three days and there is much more ground to cover. We feel that it is a very worthwhile exercise and hopefully much will come from it."

Due to the current financial situation in Argentina their clubs are being forced to get rid of their players at cut-price fees. However, it isn't just Argentina where Town are looking. The Blues were also reported to have a scout at the Vale do Tejo four-team tournament in Portugal last month. Scandinavian sources said Town were watching Swede Espen Søgåd and Norwegian Thorstein Helstad.

Suggett himself also watched a number of Scandinavian sides last week at the La Manga tournament in Spain. He says he had a number of targets: "I was following up all sorts of leads on players that I've been recommended and also looking at other possibilities.

"I watched seven games in three days and saw quite a bit to catch my eye. This is not the first time I've been. I went two years ago. This time there were scouts from many Premiership clubs present. It was an important place to be.

"Our search for talent if never ending. Nowadays there is virtually nowhere we won't look for new recruits."

The clubs involved in Spain were Town's European foes Helsingborgs IF, Rosenborg, Molde, Orgryte, Lillestrom, Stabaek, AIK Stockholm, Halmstad, Hammerby and Viking Stavanger as well as Russians Lokomotiv Moscow and Anji.

Romeo Zondervan is also on the search, recently taking in France's international with Rumania as well as a number of other games in Belgium, France and other countries in Europe.
